Thompson was shot on his way to a conference. https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/04/us/brian-thompson-united-healthcare-death/index.html The suspect is still at large, and list of potential people who have a reason to do this is literally millions long. This also means that a lot of healthcare CEOs may very quickly be ordering themselves armed guards on the company dime, which might be a very good idea for their life expectancy...

Unless it was Donald J Trump taking care of business(man), in which case he can pardon himself almost immediately. Edit: doesn’t look like the Donald from the Starbucks photo. If this guy gets away and takes out a couple more CEOs I’m nominating The Fat Cat Killer as a soubriquet.

Jonah 182 Posted December 10 I am curious about the amount of media coverage Luigi Mangione is receiving worldwide (specifically outside of the U.S.) and whether that would make him deserving of his own thread (or a more general one like "aspiring revolutionaries"). His televised trial is sure to draw attention from millions of watchers and sympathizers, and many comments online are defending him and hailing him as a national hero for reinvigorating a sentiment of class consciousness. It is clear that he knew and understood the consequences of his actions and is willing to go to trial to defend his stance, but he is also going up against influential healthcare oligarchs who may want to make an example out of him.
