Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, has died. Thompson was shot on his way to a conference.

The suspect is still at large, and list of potential people who have a reason to do this is literally millions long. This also means that a lot of healthcare CEOs may very quickly be ordering themselves armed guards on the company dime, which might be a very good idea for their life expectancy...

I’ll go out on a limb and say that the perp won’t see 2025, one way or another. Unless it was Donald J Trump taking care of business(man), in which case he can pardon himself almost immediately.

Edit: doesn’t look like the Donald from the Starbucks photo. If this guy gets away and takes out a couple more CEOs I’m nominating The Fat Cat Killer as a soubriquet.

I was wrong. He was too busy scoffing a Big Mac to notice the rozzers sneaking up on him.

Both Mangiones, both New Yorkers, definite facial similarity... related?

I am curious about the amount of media coverage Luigi Mangione is receiving worldwide (specifically outside of the U.S.) and whether that would make him deserving of his own thread (or a more general one like "aspiring revolutionaries"). His televised trial is sure to draw attention from millions of watchers and sympathizers, and many comments online are defending him and hailing him as a national hero for reinvigorating a sentiment of class consciousness. It is clear that he knew and understood the consequences of his actions and is willing to go to trial to defend his stance, but he is also going up against influential healthcare oligarchs who may want to make an example out of him.

He is an assassin.

Assassination thread severely underused in my humble.

With an emphasis on a very loose definition of "the man behind"... given that the brand was founded in 1898.

Sallie Krawcheck was once called "the most powerful woman on Wall Street":

She recently resigned from her job because of some diagnosis. Maybe it's a return of the breast cancer she once survived.
