Father of and source of funds for his son Pedro Diniz to have a (surprisingly reasonable) formula 1 career.

At the risk of sounding drol, never considered him for any teams as he seemed too young.

Billionaire Conservative Party donor and chair of JCB Anthony Bamford, Lord Bamford has retired from the Lords: https://hansard.parliament.uk/lords/2024-03-01/debates/3A7CE52E-A553-4DD8-BAD4-9431007EEFCE/RetirementOfAMemberLordBamford

Again, "only" 78 (79 in October).

Interesting snippets include the fact he once sued Jeffrey Archer for bankruptcy after Archer failed to repay a loan (he did repay it) and he provided the house and a donation to Boris Johnson for Johnson's wedding party in 2022. (Obviously because Johnson was short of a place and cash? Mwahahahah). He led JCB out of the CBI never to return after the CBI had an anti-Brexit stance. (Again, because billionaires don't feel the cost to their pockets of Brexit, I'm guessing).

Maybe he's just bored of the Lords or might be something more to it.

How can you get bored of the Lords? It's by far the more interesting of the two houses and as long as you show up you get paid. You barely have to do anything in order to do that, plus there's the bars and restaurants if you want to socialize with like-minded older folks... Not even boring company either. Hell you could even have your confession heard every day as long as you happen to be the right religion!
