gcreptile 10,972 Posted September 8, 2014 This headline in the Daily Mirror annoyed me. This is scaremongering at its worst AS has frequently said iScotland would still have the Queen as head of state. Is anyone placing bets on new Royal baby being called Elizabeth if it is a girl? Hehe, if it's a son, they'll call him Duncan or Malcolm. Seriously don't rule out James.... True, that's the classic option, which reminds me.... isn't James Bond a Scotsman? Didn't the last Bond film flesh out his character and feature his ancestral home in the Highlands? Can he work for MI6 as a foreigner?

Is anyone placing bets on new Royal baby being called Elizabeth if it is a girl? Fuck all to do with him whether the bitch is retained in any form. We will be 'democratic' after a 'Yes', and if we say 'boot the hoor', he will have to follow. Imo, the SNP have held this back for decades (even though I have always voted 'Nat'), as if they had made it clear they would disband afterwards, then that would have overcome many objections. Paul Bearer 6,102 Posted September 9, 2014 I think we should let the English vote first. Then when they vote to let us go, we'll vote to stay ;-)

Windsor 2,233 Posted September 9, 2014 You know the No campaign is failing when someone like me is even beginning to think that independence wouldn't be all that bad. Most people are struggling to understand why the polls have narrowed so dramatically. I know the answer: Douglas Alexander. Douglas Alexander is the biggest fuck up on the Scottish political scene since his sister Wendy. Having said that, had people taken Wendy seriously when she suggested backing the referendum a number of years back, we would all now probably be living in a post-referendum UK. So maybe she wasn't that much of a fuck up after all. Douglas is definitely a fuck up though.

I did think that he might be reasonably well positioned if (when) Ed gets the boot. If Scotland break away that won't happen. Some people have tried to link David Cameron's job to the outcome of the referenndum but will Alex Salmond step down as First Minister if there is a No vote? He just strikes me as largely incompetent. Luckily it is easily disguised given that he is in Ed Miliband's cabinet. If Miliband goes get the boot, I'd prefer Balls to take over. Not least because it would make PMQ's infinitely more entertaining. Salmond probably will quit in the result of a No vote. He has resigned due to political failure in the past. As well as that, it has been said that behind the scenes Sturgeon is doing her best impression of Gordon Brown when Blair was PM.

drunkasaskunk 194 Posted September 12, 2014 If Scotland becomes independent what will the rest of the UK be called? Scotland will be called "Scotland" but there will be no country of "Great Britain", there for there can be no country of "the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern ireland"
