I was due to attend a Q&A event for the latest book from Alan Hollinghurst on Friday evening, but it's just been cancelled. The organisers' email describes him as 'very unwell', but they expect to reschedule it to sometime in late November, early December. He's 70 now, and I can't find anything about any health conditions, so maybe just a bout of covid or very bad cold?

Rescheduled event was last night. He seemed fine for a 70 year old man. Full head of snowy hair, a bit overweight, walks and stands unaided, can talk and field unimaginative questions for an hour.

He mentioned that his mother was 97 when she died.

Rubbish surreptitious photo from when the stage was getting moved around.

Sci-fi author David A. McIntee best known for his work on an assortment of Doctor Who novels and a few Big Finish plays is being reported dead aged 55 by Gary Russell on Twitter.

Has also written novels for Star Trek, Space: 1999 and Final Destination.

I have read all of his Doctor Who output. His novels are always thoroughly researched but he could occasionally get carried away by historic detail which sometimes detracted from story telling. Scary that he has gone so young. He was the same age as me

Saw FB posting today saying Darryl Bullock (The Velvet Mafia, David Bowie Made me Gay etc.) has just died. Actually had dealings with him, largely on the back of the fact he was arguably one of the greatest UK experts on truly awful records (he'd had a radio show for years called The Worlds Worst Records Radio Show) and was on something of a roll with his writing (incl. decent deals for TV adaptations). That show:
