themaninblack 2,112 Posted February 21, 2016 I'm hardly Bill Gates meself but I get by. There must be an easier, better way of doing it nowadays. Thing is I don't know my php from my elbow so I stick to the old, creaky system. Of course others are helping out with the bios, so thank you to all who are contributing, although there's still a depressingly large amount still to do. and the stats are well overdue for an update and I want to simply the archives a bit more, get rid of a load of junk etc etc... Still, I enjoy the blog writing and puns...AGL the blog is more for my own amusement than anything else. I could just put here's who's dead, here's whose got the points, but what's the fun in that? I was almost going to mention that I've read Umberto Eco's "Travels in Hyperreality" and probably only Maryport/Spade/DDT will get the "Dead Raiola" reference. (not that I'm calling them hipsters or anything). God, I'm in a chatty mood tonight!

msc 18,439 Posted February 21, 2016 I didn't count 2016 as it's still ongoing. It would be a pain with remembering the cut off point for, say, the points totals, otherwise.

Lard Bazaar 3,799 Posted February 21, 2016 Isn't an 'unnatural death' like getting shot or run over by a segway or kicked in the bollocks by a horse or something, rather than just being an old man that fell over? Being an old man and falling over and dying is perfectly natural.

YoungWillz 21,037 Posted February 21, 2016 Dates of No Death 29th Feb, 8th Oct, 26th Oct, We get a go at that one soon. As I've said before, Paul Prudhomme and Richard Davies both died on 8 October 2015 and were hits. It's not a date of no death. Indeed it's mentioned.
msc 18,439 Posted February 21, 2016 Given I had Prudhomme done as a "Day of No Death record breaker" that's just forgetting to tick it off despite that. Edited.

msc 18,439 Posted February 21, 2016 Cheers msc - will the other dates fall this year? Given the big names falling, I'd expect so... Joss Acklund going on the 29th would be the punchline to a long running DDP biography gag, but I'm not sure he'd see it that way. 26th October has to fall some day, especially with nearly 300 hits a year these days. The last nine categories require going back to the very beginning and counting. I'm at 2001 and taking a break before my eyes see nothing but DDP stats and stars. Though if anyone would like to tell me who John Baker who died 5th December 2000 was, he's not showing up on Google and he's buggering everything up at the moment. themaninblack 2,112 Posted February 22, 2016 Good work, msc! Although some of these "stats" are bit irrelevant now as we've had so many hits in recent years. NYD/NYE deaths were once rare, now we get them virtually every year. So when the Stats & facts page is finally updated for real (with msc's figures as a guide) then it will be reformatted a tad... msc 18,439 Posted February 22, 2016 No worries, TMIB. There's still one stats update to come, but as one batch of it takes several hours, it maybe a while yet. I hadn't quite appreciated how much work was involved. (Still, I've reached 2009, so no point quiting now...) On another note, Hippoposthumous, The Doffin Codgers, and Impaled on the Antlers of Doom are team names I love, which I'd missed before. Sadly, the last two no longer seem to take part.
