So, back to Donald Trump's narrow escape from death - saw a post online that raised a point I hadn't considered.

Thomas Crooks clearly had access to a good quality weapon and enough local knowledge to find a firing position in decent range and outside the security sweep, but he probably fixated so much on the result he wanted and lacked experience of shooting living targets, so he likely did the video game thing of aiming for the head and thinking it'd explode. Put crudely, if he'd thought it through and gone for the body shot, into the chest, where Trump isn't exactly short of body mass,  it might have been a different outcome. If not enough damage to ensure death then likely enough to constitute the kind of life changing injury that'd put Trump out of the presidential race.

This is what would happen to a bullet hitting that chest:

Yes, centre mass all day long, or as hunters call it "a boiler room shot". Even if he was wearing body armour at that range FMJ or green tip would have gone straight through and more than likely have been fatal but certainly life changing.

If there is one thing Trump knows, it's how to put completely loyal people into key positions.

That's what he's been doing for decades, it's how he evaded the law time and time again.

He has the mob mentality in him, and he elevated the "quid pro quo" kind of mafia dealings up to the presidency.

Luckily for him, the GOP after Obama was exactly in the kind of weakened, dependent state to be ripe for a takeover.

Honestly, Capone, Gotti and the rest must be up there (or, rather, down *there*) astonished at how he's managed to achieve what they could only dream of. Even Don Corleone never got to see Michael made President Corleone as he had wanted.

I guess the Kennedies had a similar trajectory - would have worked twice or three times, with Bobby and, to a lesser degree, Ted.

The three front runners were Doug Burgum, Marco Rubio, and JD Vance. Reports were already out that Burgum and Rubio were told they wouldn’t be VP. Hm, I wonder who it could be then…

Vance confirmed.

Likely to be president in four years time as well.

I think he'd look cute with a noose round his neck. Obviously Trump thinks so.

And this time, he'll do it right.

Trump's arse must give off some delicious ice-cream aroma or something, given how many "critics" suddenly found themselves licking him.

We either vote for the bible (and porn star) humping dictator or the old puppet who can't walk or speak in a straight line.

What an uninspiring VP pick. Where did the unity talk go? That VP cements a scary future when Trump wins...

Damn, I was really hoping for Tim Scott... Wonder why he never made the shortlist?

Maybe Trump has picked him to be butler/manservant at the Whitehouse. :P

3 months out from an election Trump hasn't even won yet. But go ahead, why not tell us who'll win in 2032 and 2036 too since you've got all the answers.

That's arguably one of the reason's Trump picked him.

The message of "I was wrong and misinformed" from Vance  is a very powerful one for his campaign team to use to their advantage.

OR Vance might be a cynical asshole with no real guiding principles beyond bigotry, and oh btw he hangs out with groypers and far-right 17 year olds, pic related.Image
