An Indiana woman found with an 8-foot-long python wrapped around her neck had apparently kept snakes at the residence, which was filled with snakes and outfitted for a collection of the reptiles, police said Thursday.

Laura Hurst, 36, was found unresponsive Wednesday night on the floor of a home in the northern Indiana town of Oxford, with the snake wrapped loosely around her neck.  The person who found the woman from the town of Battle Ground removed the reticulated python from her neck, but medics were unable to revive her.  An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

The home contained about 140 snakes, about 20 of which were owned by Hurst, who apparently kept them there and visited the Oxford home about twice weekly.

Three cows that had been swept out to sea when Hurricane Dorian hit North Carolina on Sept. 6 were found alive.  The cows apparently swam from Cedar Island to Cape Lookout National Seashore park on the Outer Banks.
Christ -- that's like 15 miles (see map link below)

Syas, a Bengal tiger, reputedly the last tiger working in a UK circus was euthanised yesterday at Wolds wildlife park in Horncastle, Lincs.

Tiger owned by Andrew Riddle

Made the papers three years ago when he was spotted in a cramped cage near the M6, as part of Chipperfiled's lions & tigers tour, prompting Sir Roger Moore to call for a ban on circuses using animals.

Also made the BBC a year later (see picture).

Ferrisburgh (Vermont) residents are remembering a local celebrity: Oliver the camel.

Driving along Route 7, you probably wouldn't expect to see a camel by the roadside, but Ollie greeted travelers along the road for the better part of 20 years.

He was a Bactrian camel with two humps.

‘Best in show’ winner at Crufts shows she deserves the win in her victory parade.

Shame, really; the accolade should’ve gone to this dog here for his incredible agility run.

A blind wild horse that had roamed North Carolina's Outer Banks has died at 40.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that Amadeo passed away on Friday. The horse was once considered a king of the undeveloped beaches north of Corolla.

Before he lost his sight, the stallion fought for his harem of mares. He already was blind in one eye when a stallion damaged his other eye.

Amadeo retired to a farm in Grandy for aging wild horses and became a visitor favorite. In recent weeks, Amadeo became increasingly stiff and unable to move freely.  The Corolla Wild Horse Fund said the 40-year-old horse couldn't get up after a fall and died quickly and peacefully.

A zoo in Alabama says one of its two red pandas has died.

The zoo says in a Monday news release that Parker, a 4-year-old male red panda, was found dead Sunday morning. The Birmingham Zoo says there was no sign of physical injuries or illness and an examination didn't immediately reveal the cause of death.

You posted this story nearly two years ago. Do you have Alzheimer's? Are you obitable?

Oh God it has come to this. I knew it would end so. It was either Alzheimers or early onset dementia. How I long for the days when men were men and the only virus you got was after a nice evening with a woman. But it all has to end. It reminds of the story from Africa about the three lions that were eaten by poachers...…..

(from the BBC) Rwandan who breached lockdown ‘killed by crocodile’

A man in Rwanda who breached the ongoing lockdown to reportedly go fishing has been killed and eaten by a crocodile, the mayor of the southern Kamonyi district has told the BBC.

Alice Kayitesi said the Wednesday morning incident happened in the Nyabarongo river.

"He had broken the stay-home rule, he’s among very few people here who are not co-operating with the lockdown to stop the [corona]virus," Ms Kayitesi said.

The authorities in Rwanda imposed a total lockdown on Sunday as cases of Covid-19 continued to rise.

The East African nation has confirmed 40 cases so far, the highest in the region.

Great that they have spare test kits for tigers in NY but NHS staff here are left untested.
