More of a question really - I'm by no means a dog expert, but surely, this dog (loved by Benedict Cumberbatch & George Clooney, and now dead) isn't a miniature dachshund?

Hero was said to be known by the film stars.

VERY INTERESTING Facts, about dead penguins - I never knew this! Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica? Where do they go? Wonder no more! It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintain a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into, and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing: "Freeze a jolly good fellow." "Freeze a jolly good fellow." You really didn't believe that I know anything about penguins, did you?

A little late with this one, but Maple, the dog of YouTuber AcousticTrench, who appeared in all of his videos, died in June, aged 12.

Between YouTube and Facebook he had over 5 million subscribers. Not bad for a dog and a guitar!

Not sure where else to put this, this afternoon I was in the local bus station and saw a group of people infront of a bus watching a woman giving CPR to a dog. They had been on the bus when the dog took sick, I don't think it was going to end well. On a lighter note I know the driver of the bus and will rip the pish out of them next time I bump into them.

At least two members of a herd of endangered Asian elephants died at a Sri Lankan landfill over the weekend after eating trash.

The landfill is located near Pallakkadu village in the eastern part of the country. A veterinarian interviewed by the AP said the two deceased elephants had swallowed large amounts of polythene, food wrappers, and other plastics. Making matters worse, there were no signs of food elephants normally eat found in their bodies.
