Sir Creep 7,070 Posted August 16, 2020 A furious bison violently attacked a woman who got a little too comfortable with its herd Wednesday. Videos of the incident posted to Facebook... The motorcyclist, who is an unnamed 54-year-old woman from Iowa, then plops down just feet from the bison and begins to snap photos of a cow and her calf. In the disturbing video, you can see the animal catching her belt by its horn and swinging her around aggressively. “She was apparently saved when her pants came off and she fell to the ground unconscious,” says a report by the Custer County Chronicle that was shared on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page. En Passant 3,741 Posted August 27, 2020 I've never understood these "if you know what you are doing these animals aren't dangerous" types. They can be right most of the time but it only has to go wrong once. It's Russian Roulette albeit with possibly with more than 5 empty chambers to the 1 that's loaded but it's still going to bite you in the arse in the end (pun entirely intentional). torbrexbones 717 Posted September 9, 2020 An Australian man has been killed in a shark attack off Queensland's Gold Coast, marking the first fatal attack at the tourist city's beaches in over 60 years. Nick Slater, 46, was at Greenmount Beach at Coolangatta - a well-known surf spot - when a shark mauled his leg on Tuesday. Nearby surfers found him floating in shallow water next to his board. He was rushed to shore and given first aid but died at the scene. Authorities closed an 18km (11-mile) section of beaches on Wednesday to conduct helicopter and jetski searches for the shark - reported to be a 3m great white. Sir Creep 7,070 Posted November 14, 2020 50th Anniversary of the television report by Paul Linnman, who stood on a beach in Florence, Oregon, reporting on the dead 45-foot 8-ton sperm whale that had washed up on shore. The Oregon Highway Division had decided the best way to remove the dead 8-ton sperm whale that had washed ashore was to stuff it with 24 cases of dynamite and blow it up. The idea was that the rotting whale would be nearly disintegrated by the blast, and that any smaller pieces left over would be taken care of by seagulls or other scavengers. But it didn’t go as planned. Enjoy the video. SC
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted November 16, 2020 An Alaska Airlines jetliner struck a brown bear while landing early Saturday evening in Yakutat, killing the animal and causing some damage to the plane. No one in the plane was hurt. Airport crew members had cleared the runway about 10 minutes before flight 66 was expected to land, said Sam Dapcevich, a public information officer for the state’s Department of Transportation. The crews did not see any signs of wildlife during the check, but as the plane began to slow after landing, Dapcevich said, the pilots spotted two bears crossing the runway. “The nose gear missed the bears, but the captain felt an impact on the left side after the bears passed under the plane,” a statement from Alaska Airlines said.
