Planned that he's going to be in hospital for three days and then going to a two-day party camp on the 4th of November. However often these things don't go as planned.

Sharad Pawar discharged.

Valdas Adamkus hospitalised with COVID.

Valdas Adamkus celebrated his 96th, looks amazing. Congratulated by other ancient Lithuanian politician Vytautas Landsbergis who wishes Adamkus would still live a long time with Alma Adamkiene.

Alma and I will have a normal dinner, maybe there will be a glass or two of champagne.

According to the president, Ms. Alma is feeling better now.

"Healing. It was worse. Now, I have to admit that I am happy to watch her improvement, and I hope that we will see her out for a walk in the summer", said V.Adamkus.

*Counting those born 1930-1932, there's also 92-year-old Hawaii Republican Pat Saiki, ex-President of French Polynesia Gaston Flosse, 91, Falima Teao of Tokelau who like Visesio Moeliku I doubt is alive and Harish Sharma of Fiji. Average life expectancy of an Oceanian politician seems to be around half of that of a tennis player/Chinese politician.

Gaston Flosse, by the way, seems like the Mahathir Mohamad/Juan Ponce Enrile of Oceania, 91 but still very politically active. He's been the President of French Polynesia, overseas French country and collectivity a total of five times, 1984-1987, 1991-2004, 2004-2005, 2008 and 2013-2014. Quite corrupt and controversial.

flosse.jpg.555b2c27772206c60a61b46f1f746167.jpg

Recently he's been given a nine-month jail sentence, an US$8,000 fine, and has been declared ineligible for public office for five years meaning he can't run in the French Polynesia 2023 elections. I wonder if he'd qualify a  French Sweepstake pick

I was living in Cheltenham in 1992 and voted  for him at my first general election. Briefly met him during the campaign and shook his hand when Paddy Ashdown came to Cheltenham for a rally.

That was the election where there was a huge argument surrounding the Conservative candidate but they tried to indicate that this diminished the LD victory but it ignored the fact that they had only held the seat previously because of loyalty to the sitting MP. Most of the council seats in the town were LD

What the hell is up with his face? Looks like he had either a severe stroke or some kind of jaw surgery maybe?

Two or three time oral cancer survivor who has had a ton of surgeries due to it. Originally apparently diagnosed around 1999 after decades of using chewing tobacco. His teeth from that area were removed around 2004.

ABPlive made a great article on him a while ago on his ailments and 2004 cancer survival:

Taking a break from hospitalization to attend a political event is just a minor example for those who have seen Pawar doing greater feats. In 2004, when Pawar was diagnosed with cancer, doubts were raised about whether he would survive till the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The political pundits predicted the end of his public career as well. However, Pawar was not ready to give up easily. When a young doctor, after assessing Pawar’s reports, said that he would not survive over six months, Pawar, in a lighter vein, remarked, “I will outlive you.”

Surgery was conducted on his cheek. A patch of skin from Pawar’s thigh was grafted on the cheek and his teeth were removed. After the election results, the UPA government came to the power in the centre and Sharad Pawar was made the agriculture minister. While getting treated for Cancer, he kept on discharging his duties as well. After attending his office and meeting visitors, he straightaway went to painful chemotherapy sessions at the Apollo hospital. Skin from the surface of his tongue and lips got peeled off and due to pain, it became difficult for him to intake a drop of water if not anaesthetized.

Knowing he's had oral cancer and major jaw surgery as well, I must say this doesn't bode well for John Farnham.
