Felipe Gonzalez Gonzalez, Mexican politician and former governor of Aguascalientes died at the age of 76. Interesting name too, can't think of any politician with a repeated name like this since Boutros Boutros-Ghali.

Now that’s interesting. Pendry returned to the Labour whip in the Lords just the other week, having resigned it a while ago… maybe as an anti-Corbyn thing? Guess he wanted to die as a Labour peer rather than a non-affiliate.

As a sometime Minister, I'd expect a QO in due course.

 

I'd expect that the people still in poverty will no doubt be heartened by his meaningless elevation to the Lords, his suspension therefrom for bullying a security guard, and his self-aggrandisement as follows

 

"In Stalybridge, he is honoured by the area in front of the Civic Hall being named Lord Pendry Square and Stalybridge Celtic having The Lord Tom Pendry Stand."

Lord Alliance, 91 this year, hasn't spoken or voted in the Lords since before Elizabeth died. Presumably not taken the oath either. (Although with 1 speech and less than 100 votes in 20 years he's not exactly a regular participant!) Hansard doesn't have the oath speakers listed anymore which is annoying. 

 

I was going to look up each one but soon after realising there's over 800 of them right now, I gave up. Could probably sort out a decent shortlist out of Lords aged 70+ who haven't voted in over a year, tbh. Not today though.

Gérard Latortue, Haiti Prime Minister 2004-2006, dead at 88. AP obituary says he "helped rebuild and unite the country after a violent coup in the mid-2000s".

Haiti has a few 85+ former heads of state/govt, oldest and probably frailest being Jean-Jacques Honorat, 92 in a month and has been ill for a longer time.

Taiwan independence activist Zhong Yiren back on oxygen, but seemingly recovering again. Hospitalised for over a month, he says that he'll not die anytime soon, claims that he will be discharged in a few days and needs to attend a memorial event this week. (Unless the reaper has other plans)
