Maryport's Midsummer Dead Pool

Recommended Posts

So, in a pathetic effort to inject a little life into this tepid thread...

Will we have the podium complete by the end of the longest day?

Here's what I have:

Kate Granger - Still getting treatment and more lucid than earlier reported.

Bernie Worrell - On his way out. Matter of hours rather than days.

Thai King - allegedly recovering well from his recent heart op.

Walter Scheel - no news is good news for this one.

Leslie Phillips - no news is good news for this one.

Liz Smith - recent hoax death, but nothing much.

Shelby Westbrook - no news is good news for this one.

Pope Emeritus Benedict - party organised for June 28 to celebrate 65 years as a priest. Hm.

Rowena Kincaid - nothing since readmission to hospital for pneumonia treatment earlier in the month.

Billy Graham - seemingly immortal.

Tony Booth - no news is good news for this one.

Geoffrey Bayldon - no news is good news for this one.

King Michael of Romania - operation in March, tax trouble in May, dead in June?

Marietta Giannakou - still in intensive care after heart attack?

Irving Kanarek - no news is good news for this one.

Lady Susan Renouf - still receiving palliative care?

Bruce Langhorne - still in hospice, dying since December 2015.

Zsa Zsa Gabor - seemingly immortal.

Emma Morano - had a birthday, still kicking.

Above and beyond, cheers for the form guide fella

A few hours to go but we're short of one person on the podium, right?

I will gladly accept that place if nobody else claims it.

So there we have it: 19 survivors of the inaugural Midsummer Madness. I'm astonished so many have made it and, with all due respect to our esteemed champion Spade, even he picked possibly the least famous person imaginable in order to win. Do we ignore this thread now until next summer or do we merrily tick off our contenders one-by-one (assuming of course that at least SOME of the 19 don't make it to the starting line next year) as the year goes by?

Or do we have a game to see how many go between now and next June? Think I'd go with....8 more deaths before next year. Just don't ask me which 8.

It will be more than 8.Granger Worrell Renouf Langhorne Kincaid and Booth will all be dead within 6 months at most.As for the others none of them look like they have a year in them.I reckon there will be about 5 survivors next year including Zsa Zsa.

Well, you know, it's as Gary Lineker said: Deadpooling is a simple game. Twenty-one names are ambulance chased by a group of ghouls for a length of time and at the end, David Quantick's Showbiz Pals win.

I didn't realise that people who are not famous were eligible picks. Personally I feel that it crosses a line. Someone is going to pick their granny, or a cancer-stricken neighbour.

It is anyones game.Every candidate is bloody brilliant in terms of extreme old age serious illness or both.Would not at all be surprised if 10 go before the 21st.Maybe the one who finishes last should get given something horrible like a kick up the arse by Maryport.Would drag the competition out a little longer :P

While I have no doubt there are some sure fire hits on the list, you'll forgive me for lacking a certain amount of confidence in your certainty Shaun, given your previous prediction as the game began... ;)

To be fair the winning pick went during his 15 minutes and got the necessary in the rules of the game.

Pity otherwise I would have won!

Aye, low hanging enthusiast that I am I'm still precious that picks have had their fifteen minutes and not greatly given to people picking their own granny.Obviously if the second in line to the throne should choose to enter we'd allow him to pick his granny!

He was janitor of the year for all of the US! That's equivalent to a Nobel imho.

Dr Kate brings up a top five, 16 to go on this. We're catching the official Deathlist. That'll get the mass shootings off the front pages, eh?
