Instead of it being "vote for Donald, she's ill", it sort of reads as "why vote for the lesser of two evils - vote Hilary, she's going to die anyway, then you can get someone else..." This idea that a third (or fourth) party can establish itself in the presidential race without working its way up from local politics is absurd. This election is really pretty tame, considering. In 1800, Thomas Jefferson accused John Adams of having a "hideous hermaphroditical character" while Adams accused Jefferson of "...a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father." In 1824, accusations of cannibalism flew around and the election had no majority winner - although Jackson won the plurality - and the House of Representatives had to decide it, in what is now called the Corrupt Bargain, which put Adams into the White House in exchange for making Henry Clay the Secretary of State. In 1828, John Quincy Adams was a pimp, Andrew Jackson's wife was a slut and a bigamist and his mother was a prostitute - according to each opposition. Jackson won this time and subsequently caused the annihilation of thousands of American Indians through his relocation policies. From memory, Van Buren was seen in those circles as an irrelevant idiot with a high opinion of himself who nobody liked. As for Harrison, all I know about him is that he won election based on his ability to kill Native Americans, and then, after insisting on giving his entire inauguration speech out in the pissing rain while suffering from a cold, took pneumonia and died. Gary Johnson doesn't even know what Aleppo is I saw that clip whilst in US last week - it is very funny but I bet George W Bush would probably have struggled to answer the same question. I think the question is phrased 'What would you do about Aleppo?' and I'm sure he is sitting there thinking 'a leppo, wtf is a leppo' I go about every 6 months to US. 6 months ago everyone I spoke to was just embarrassed about the portrayal of their country on the world stage caused by these two being the candidates.
