Trump proves himself to be an Imperialist dummy like others. He has defenestrated Flynn and Bannon and he's going to start another useless war using a Saddam-like justification (the same). This is not 1979 Afghanistan, but US never learn.

Of course he is an imperialist dummy. But unlike the half caste with his line in the sand shite, he has put down a marker. Fair play. Hope he gets fucked by Vlad :)

Well, I still think he's better than Hillary. Having chosen him will delay WWIII by two months at least.

According to tabloids, Chinese troops are massing on the Korean border to deter Yanks.  More reputable papers aren't carrying the allegations, though.

More likely they mass on the Korean border to sort out the North Koreans imo. Their sabre rattling endangers the Chinese long term plans after all.

Don't know. Can't imagine the Yanks and the Chinese co-operating over anything at this stage. :(

If NK falls or is merged back into SK and comes under the US "sphere of influence", the Yanks would be able to put weapons right on the Chinese border.

USA v Russia, not a real threat of war.

USA v North Korea, not likely to end in war.

The real threat lies with Pakistan & India, now the likelihood of conflict between them is high, escalation to nuclear conflict is moderate.

Hope so! Nevertheless, the world situation has deteriorated remarkably in the last two years and Trump and Putin are far less stable than the leaders on both sides even during the height of the Cold War.

The Catholics are very pessimistic now:

"World War III is all but inevitable as North Korea and the U.S. prep for war.

We are waiting for Friday to dawn in North Korea to know what will happen next, but the prognosis is for war. President Trump and Kim Jong Un have both issued statements that show they are on a collision course and from prior precedent, it seems neither leader is prepared to back down. For both, the stakes are too high to stop. China is actively preparing for conflict.

[snip]

The diversion of the fleet follows President Trump's strike on Syria which is now understood to be a waning message to North Korea, and a demonstration of resolve for China.

China certainly believes something is likely to happen. They have moved 150,000 troops to the North Korean border to establish field hospitals and refugee camps. No nation, not even China, moves that many troops without good cause.

Finally, both North Korea and the U.S. have issued statements warning the other of imminent military action.

It is apparent that something is about to happen. The only question is how far will it escalate.

North Korea will not fare very well against the U.S. Navy or American air assets. Within hours to days of an open conflict, the United States will rule the seas and the skies. On land however, North Korea has an advantage in troops and preparation. But that advantage will be swiftly degraded as allied air power interdicts lines of communication and chips away at the North's outmoded military. Superior technology in the hands of American and South Korean forces will also allow the allies to dominate the North's army within a matter of days.

What happens after that will depend on how other actors respond. Congress will demand President Trump asks for permission to go to war. China will have to decide if they want to occupy the North. Russia will have to choose a side, or they could remain neutral. Inside the regime of Kim Jong Un, key figures will have to decide what risks they want to take.

All this could happen quickly, meaning within just a few weeks' time, the world is likely to be a very different place."

Of course, Catholics know what they are talking about here, given their history of warmongering, persecution and crimes against humanity...

You are most likely correct. India and Pakistan have too many people: time to thin the herd a bit.

EDIT - Feck it, this tweet here.

They both want a great trade deal, and the Chinese tend to think in terms of centuries, not decades. I think they will, eventually.
