Death Impends 8,043 Posted July 1, 2017 Smith will be a when not if, but his surprise lingering into July was quite welcome seeing as I'll probably be June's player of the month. (cue a Baghdadi June death confirmation in 10 minutes...)

I think he'll last till August. 12 minutes ago, Death Impends said: Smith will be a when not if, but his surprise lingering into July was quite welcome seeing as I'll probably be June's player of the month. (cue a Baghdadi June death confirmation in 10 minutes...) Congrats on player of the month. Don't worry about al-Baghdadi, none of your competitors for player of the month (Still Life, The B-Team, Shaun of the Dead 69) had him.
Joey Russ 7,267 Posted July 1, 2017 Um, The Living End would have gained more than Death Impends due to him being his joker. That plus Christie equals 38 points.

Right, and DeathImpends is at 43 points with Christie joker (24), Perez (10), Van-Zandvliet (9).

Spade_Cooley 9,637 Posted July 3, 2017 Frates' imminent death basically rules me out of the running this year unless we do get a Singh/Brokenshire double-header. RIP the drive for five.

RadGuy 1,619 Posted July 3, 2017 I'm already projected to fall to 5th in the next update. If Hart obits and Frates does go very soon, I'll fall to 7th - last time I was that low was February. And I also don't think I'll be able to regain much of that lost ground, all of my good picks are popular with everyone else.

I don't think that'll impact the championship quite yet though, as the top 4 will still be the same (with heading nowhere only one point behind DQSBP). Oh well, there's the dose of early morning shit posts. This is getting interesting though, I must say...
Death Impends 8,043 Posted July 3, 2017 Shaun definitely deserves some kudos - did a bold risk of picking three ALS names, and within a few days he'll have likely won on all of them.

He was even more bold, as he also picked Stephen Hawking... While that might turn out not to work after all, I actually like that Shaun goes beyond cancer types. He also has an eye for emphysema and Alzheimer's. That said, I think we're now getting a good handle on the ALS types. Once they've exceeded the 5 years since diagnosis, they become good targets. I think that suggests that Steve Gleason might be a good suggestion next year, and Jerome Golmard the year after that. That reminds me..how is Fernando Ricksen doing? Ah yes, financial troubles and a greedy ex-wife: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/scottish-news/1105450/rangers-legend-ricksen-claims-ex-wife-appeal-delayed-divorce-case-after-terminal-mnd-diagnosis/

gcreptile 11,086 Posted July 4, 2017 Last year, I managed to simultaneously occupy places 1 and 4, but that was in January.... And while that was better than it is right now, I think my teams will in the end, on average, do better than last year. Virtually, my teams are occupying places 5 and 9 right now, after Smith Hart's death. Next year (if I am given the opportunity), I really need to focus on having that one super-duper title contending team.
RadGuy 1,619 Posted July 4, 2017 Hate to be nit-picky, but in the Kobayashi obit you said that Still Life won player of the month. He came close at 41 points, but it was actually TJS with 43 points that won it.
themaninblack 2,112 Posted July 4, 2017 According to my calculations TJS has 31 for the month. What was the other 12 for? EDIT: Oh I see, Errol Christie joker. Missed that one out!
