Brad252 859 Posted November 21, 2024 Could this year be a record for candidates really drawing it out? Carter, Chomsky, Rantzen and Le Pen all seem to be in some way.

They want him dead yesterday! Why I’ll never know. There are millions of JMLPs in the world. His death will not make an iota of a difference. He wasn’t even ever a national leader, but rather a serial election loser. Not sure why ppl are so eager to see him die.

The world will be a little less ugly. 9

prussianblue 1,099 Posted November 22, 2024 I see that his first wife Pierrette, mother of Marine, is still alive, aged 89. Fun quote from her Wiki article: 'In a 1987 interview with Playboy, Jean-Marie Le Pen, who refused to pay alimony to Pierrette, said that "If she needs any money, all she has to do is clean". Pierrette Le Pen then reacted by accepting Playboy's offer to pose in a semi-nude maid's outfit'

The Old Crem 3,703 Posted December 1, 2024 If there is a snap French presidential election announced or likely to be for 2025 he should stay on the list because if his daughter become President I feel like he might then die soon after.

Him and his daughter do not have a good relationship. Her becoming President wouldn’t make a jot of difference to his longevity.

I can confirm that…Previous years the DL commitee chose 2 French picks but these year only Le Pen…sad many French names famous at home are not well known abroad…Even a name like Bernadette Chirac as former french lady is not considered while a former first lady of the Philippines whose name I never heard her, she is.

There's only 50 spots. Most countries don't even get one name on the list.

I live in the U.S. and can assure you most of us have never heard of Bernadette Chriac, sorry. Imelda Marcos is a bit more known, as her husband held power for over two decades. There is also the notoriety of her lavish lifestyle, human rights violations, and exile. I honestly don't think it's a fair comparison. If it makes you feel better, no former U.S. first ladies made the list, this year or last year.
