It all adds up eventually. I don't know if it's real objective science, but I personally believe supportive personal relationships can increase life expectancy, and traumas such as this may lower (not to mention he has 2 deceased children and not only one).

I don't really get the point of this thread : do we just randomly throw names, are we getting to build up a list of 50 names aside the main one, or do we make a deadpool with rules and so ?

Yes, I thought it was going to be a dead pool at first.  50 names is too many for me though.  It is more of a challenge with fewer names as you have to weigh up which ones to leave out.

Well, I think I could easily put 50 decent names or even more on a list without too much effort.

What we need are rules so the list is managed like the one on this website (do there can be a sort of competition between the two lists):

- a committee, to finally decide who's on the list and who' not, and the order of the list

- well-defined rules about who could be in or not (for example, Jodie Foster speaks very good french...)

- obit rules ; wikipedia is an option, we could also choose french reference newspapers like Le Monde, or decide that an obit in any newspapers written in french would be OK...

And finally, what makes the fun is the ability for everyone to have his/her personal list to compete against the committee...

Or I could end up making a website myself (why not under franchise of deathlist.net ?)

- Candidates have to be humans only - no famous racehorses, etc.  

 

- A specific person.  Years ago in an early DeathList, someone nominated "any 1 Beatle" and the rule was subsequently amended to be more specific.

 

- You might want to set a minimum age limit for good taste (ie, don't go nominating terminally children.)  Maybe 40 and upwards or something.

 

- Person has to be famous in their own right and not just related to someone famous (so not, for example, Johnny Hallyday's little sister or Macron's mum or something like that).

 

- Candidate is illegible if they are on death row somewhere.

 

- You might want to consider if you want notorious celebs in or not. I was a bit uncomfortable with having Ian Brady on the main list but others had no problem with it. Same for "famous" Nazis, etc.  For example, would you be comfortable listing, say, any prominent Vichy Government types who are still alive?

 

-  Person must be confirmed dead, not just missing.
