paddyfool 379 Posted January 25, 2018 Out of general laziness / interest, I'm going to enter a team of random picks in random order: Random 25 may-or-may-not-stay-alive 1. Jimmy Carter 2. Marieke Vervoort 3. Rev Billy Graham 4. Devin Lima 5. Dean Francis 6. Doris Day 7. Leslie Phillips 8. Little Richard 9. Jill Gascoine 10. Olivia Newton-John 11. Valerie Harper 12. Terry Jones 13. Leah Bracknell 14. Betty White 15. Greg Gilbert 16. Dick Van Dyke 17. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI 18. Prunella Scales 19. Clive James 20. Donald Trump 21. Alberto Fujimori 22. Henry Kissinger 23. Simon Ricketts 24. Robert Mugabe 25. Liam Miller Sub: Val Kilmer I very much expect they should come last by a decent margin, but I think a random team or two give a nice comparison with the predictive power of other peoples' guesses.
Death Impends 7,957 Posted January 25, 2018 paddyfool's team is the first to go for Bracknell and Vervoort, meaning every name from the 50 now has at least one team in their corner.

paddyfool 379 Posted January 25, 2018 Yeah, it might have been saner for me to go with the even lazier "inverse DDP popularity" prediction that occurred to me a little later (ranking 50th at 1st, 49th at 2nd, etc.) EDIT: Although even this would have included Bracknell, albeit at 25th

Hardly confident endorsements of his survival, mind, as the two teams who had him each included him in the final two spots. @theoldlady's updated team has been noted. @Sir Creep was the only other to nominate Cryne and now sees Doris Day in the #25 spot. If you want to change Day's position and/or nominate a new sub, Sir Creep, let me know. Sorry just caught up with this post. Shall I amend my list or post separately (ie edit this post here with updates)? SC Edit: If I put Doris Day at say #20, does everyone just get bumped down from that point or may I swap 20 and the vacated 25th slot? I would prefer a swap (ie put Day at 20 and move Jowell to 25) but I tend to think multiple moves aren’t and/or shouldn’t be allowed. If not allowed just slide Day into Cryne’s 25th and final position as is the idea of a sub, and I’ll take Chris Rea as my new Sub-For-A-Day. Thanks! I will change my OP to indicate whatever changes are allowed once we get to Jan 27th.

So Day shall remain your #25. New sub has been noted. In hindsight, I feel that I probably should've only applied the "you can move your sub into any spot if they're bumped up into the 25" provision to the #51 name, as technically a name like Doris Day could've been put in any spot from the getgo. I don't see it as the done thing to backtrack, mind, just a hint I'll probably tinker with that rule a bit more next year.

Yeah I’m more about establishing sound policy vs what works for my team, which is why I said I prolly shouldn’t be allowed to make wholesale changes. I think the whole idea of a sub was they were your 26th choice and should scoot into 25 and everyone move up. In my case with Crane it was moot. SC

Death Impends 7,957 Posted January 28, 2018 And the door slams shut. We've got our largest IDP yet with a robust 36 participants. Good luck to all and to those who are picked. As collating the "who picked whom" stats was easy to do and we've got quite a few fact fans on here, a stats corner will be coming here in a brief moment for the first time since 2011.
