The Old Crem 3,593 Posted June 12, 2020 I managed to have my wound after a fall regularly dressed from early march to early May. I don't think we can call him a virus death when he departs being it's unlikely it had not spread to the lungs pre March 1st.

Maybe the committee have correctly guessed he will make 2023.
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted January 3, 2022 Yep, these things can obviously change very quickly, but reading the article it sounds like he feels he's got an eventual life sentence but the "when" doesn't sound too immediate. Another Olivia Newton-John?
gcreptile 10,970 Posted April 7, 2022 He's finished five months (!) of chemo, a massive effort, which, in my opinion, can only get worse the next time. But for now, he's alive and in a better position:

YoungWillz 21,044 Posted May 10, 2022 Bit of a pisser for Alagiah, as he's reading the news tonight including a story on Deborah James' imminent demise.

Just came to say the same thing. Clearly moved after the report, a scary glimpse into his own future.

Deborah James has lasted 6 years as an outlier. That timeframe would give our George about 18-24 months more, tops, alas.
Sean 6,325 Posted September 4, 2022 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/09/03/george-alagiah-have-tumour-site-lower-back-spent-lot-time/ Has a tumour pressing on his spine that is near the nerve and aorta 3
drol 11,945 Posted September 4, 2022 Doesn't seem imminent yet, but he is a good bet for 2023 and will likely be on the list.

Seems like a fitting comparison now. Like Deborah James, Alagiah is doing a good job keeping up appearances. Tumours seem to move with similar speed and the side effects keep accumulating. Alagiah is older than her though, so he might just run out of energy a little earlier.
Perhaps 1,423 Posted October 12, 2022 Taking another break from presenting as his cancer spreads further. “A recent scan showed that my cancer has spread further so it’s back to some tough stuff. “I’m missing my colleagues. Working in the newsroom has been such an important part of keeping energised and motivated. “I look forward to being back in that studio as soon as I can.”

Brad252 807 Posted October 12, 2022 Unfortunately I think if he makes 2023 he'll be a strong contender for the list. By coincidence he's around the same age as former colleague and fellow cancer sufferer Bill Turnbull.
