Edit: Oh, Kacper is the polish spelling, and there is a big football talent right now with that name.

Yes I see names that I think must be typos and then think probably not, its just 'wacky' parents being 'individual'. Or they're typos. "Aadam" is, I think a muslim variation of "Adam".

Kacper, and a few other names beginning with K are of Eastern European origin (the rest presumably being of Kardashian origin).

It never fails to surprise me how so many parents seem to fasten onto the same names at the same time.  The popularity of Olivia baffles me, it sounds oily and makes me think of liver.

I've never encountered anyone called Chozen and haven't seen Cobra Kai. Is it just pronounced like 'chosen'?

The stats for 2022 England & Wales baby names are out.  (Note not 2023)

 

The BBC are making a big deal out of Charles dropping out of the top 100.

 

They are missing a very obvious factor:  the fad for nicknames or informal versions of names.

 

Charles is at 102 with 533 boys named Charles.

But Charlie is at 16 with 2,391.

Surely a point worth making, but nobody thought to mention it.
