Windsor 2,233 Posted March 16, 2006 Patrick Moore may have presented his last edition of Sky at Night..stand by for more details... So how do you know this? How did you get your inside information? What makes you think he is in grave condition? As far as I can see Sir Patrick has had some medical treatment and is corrently in a comfortable state in hospital. So where do you get all your information iain, because it certainly would be handy to know?

Although Iain's sources are occationally a bit out of reach. Like he'll report a death and everybody will be amused and then a second later he will try to tell everyone there will be a blizzard in August.

I suppose this is the same feeling that you had when you made your "bold prediction" that "Charlton Heston will be the next to die" back in January..... Well, we're still waiting
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted March 17, 2006 My psychic powers have proven their worth....stating Jack Wild was a certainty for 2006 when others doubted it. I say the overweight in the closet astronomer lives for many more months!
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted March 18, 2006 To add to the above he turned up on telly tonight in a programme about whether the moon landings were faked. He made sense and didn't look too bad considering, anyone know when the programme was recorded?
ad astra 0 Posted March 18, 2006 It appears that Sir Patrick Moore is out of hospital, and is fine - according to Brian May. http://brianmay.com/brian/brianssb/brianssb.html (scroll down to the entry for 13 March)

So much for iain's predictions of imminent death.
maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted March 19, 2006 Brian May's site has a line in self-regarding rock 'n' roll pretentiousness that puts it up there with the king of such naval gazing drivel Art Garfunkel. For those of you who never dropped in when the old Star Trek thread took a turn into Art's world I recommend clutching a sick bag as you surf. For sheer self-regarding up its own arse drivel I recommend his prose poems - click on still water - and the library pages in which he records all the books he's ever read. Star Crossed 33 Posted April 3, 2006 Well, The Sky At Night has afforded its monthly observation of the astronomical phenomenon that is Sir Patrick Moore. I'm happy to report that he was looking more healthy and vibrant than he's looked for some time, apparently in fine post-operation fettle. Speech a tad slurred, but that's nothing unusual these days. He was sporting a rather snazzy Hawaiian-style shirt in his garden at Selsey to observe a partial solar eclipse, while his protégé Chris Lintott enjoyed some "Turkish Delight" (the title of tonight's show) in the form of the totality. Patrick's looking good. I know it's close to DL blasphemy, but roll on 2007! "Nothing can match the glory of totality" - Patrick Moore.
Guest iain Posted April 3, 2006 yeah hes looking better than last mointh.I can now confidently predict thathe will make it to Sky at Nights 50th anniversary next april and beyond.Reports of his death were indeed greatly exaggerated.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted April 7, 2006 yeah hes looking better than last mointh.I can now confidently predict thathe will make it to Sky at Nights 50th anniversary next april and beyond.Reports of his death were indeed greatly exaggerated. Probably not - it was just Iain talking and lying about. But yes I find the name "The sky at night" a very positive thought. The stars always lead me to believe in hope and a positive future. Although astrology like the beleif in supirior beings is nonesense. Lately i've been thinking this way about all religion and so on... Forgive me if you are offended. DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted June 17, 2006 I'm sure I read somewhere that Brian May from Queen is going to be writing a book with Patrick Moore about the history of the universe. I might be wrong though, in fact the more I think about it I probably dreamed it. Which in itself is pretty weird. No more posts for me today, I have been drinking rather a lot in the hot shinesun
