The deadline for the grifters family to lodge an appeal against the demolition of the St Captain Sir Field Marshal Sir Captain Sir Tom Tom Ground Control to Major Tom Memorial Paddling Pool has passed. Unclear if they have bothered or not: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-67761441

As it turns out, they haven't, and the spa must be demolished by 8th February.

I propose a sponsored walk around the rubble.

Trending joke: Captain Tom's daughter, Baroness (for the moment) Mone & Meghan Markle have founded a new pop group: The Grifters.

If you'd like to donate to their cause don't forget to tick the box labelled "grift aid".

Ena Collymore-Woodstock who had photos with Captain Tom during his last trip is still going at almost 107.

And there's still "Ghana's Tom Moore" Joseph Ashitey Hammond, 99 and even has an active twitter account.

That's the family selling up the site of Tom's martyrdom. I suppose they've got to make back what they sunk into the spa somehow!

Rightmove if you fancy having a nose. Doubt they'll get £2.25m.

I don't like it. Strangely institutional look to the exterior, rambling extensions, mismatched windows. Interior is somewhat bland.

Just to update for those not in the loop: The Charity Commission has issued a report on the dealings of the Captain Tom Foundation today and found that they have "damaged public trust in charities". This stems primarily from the £1.47m they were given as an advance for 3 books based around Captain Tom: his autobiography, "Tomorrow will be a Good Day", a kids book, "Captain Sir Tom Moore: One Hundred Steps" and the preposterous "Captain Tom's Life Lessons". All 3 books claim that proceeds from them would go to the Foundation. The charity says it has not seen a penny of the advance or the proceeds. You'll be shocked, I'm sure, to find this wasn't an isolated case of Captain Tom's name being used to personally enrich the Ingram-Moores, who still deny doing anything wrong, of course.

This was always the inevitable end of the messianic cult that erupted from him doing those laps of his garden. The circus was always going end in ignominy, especially once they kept flogging him for cash after he died.

The BBC's had a field day today, 3 articles:

An insider's view by the former Chief Executive of the Foundation: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj6kg7wgw7no
