So she's 'deeply saddened' by the death of her mother in a FIRE? Fuck me, I'm 'deeply saddened' when I open the fridge and there's no cheese, or when Eastenders is cancelled because of fucking football. If my dad died in a fire I'd be fucking inconsolable and highly traumatised, not 'deeply saddened'.

I fucking love you. I was made to go to Sid's Cafe in Holmfirth while on a holiday when I was about 14 and a goth - you can imagine my utter enthusiasm and delight at being subjected to such an experience. I would gladly have rolled every old person in the place down a massive fucking hill in a bath to their deaths.

Padding your post stats w this moving entry. A local butcher? I'll bet all the top butchers in Burnley have gone to theatres in Estonia. SC Quite possible. After he closed his shop, he went on a cruise with his wife to Estonia: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/burnley/11337202.Popular_Burnley_butcher_to_close_shop_as_he_battles_cancer/?ref=rss “I will be going on a cruise around Norway, Sweden and Estonia with Helen. We were going to go to the Caribbean but I can’t be out in the sun very long now.”

My Mum used to watch Pebble Mill at One everyday and she went to an open day and Bob Langley actually picked me up and held me whilst he talked to my Mum. I must have been about 5 at the time but still have vague recollections of it. Boy, you were lucky. Another time, another place and you could have been held by Jimbo or Rolf!!

Don't know about the porridge, but I suppose avoiding men is a useful survival strategy. Dangerous lot, that. She's died, Jessie Gallan at 109. http://news.stv.tv/north/315288-scotlands-oldest-woman-jessie-gallan-dies-at-the-age-of-109/ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Aye.

I agree. I'm even inclined to wish that the Daily Mail was excluded because of the obscure nobodies regularly featured therein.

The Belfast Telegraph would be considered a regional paper. The key is finding something that will run Nationally. For both Val Biro and Gene Kemp there were very good and timely obits from the local press (which didn't count) but the Guardian took a little time to catch up. By expecting a UK national obit you at least keep this on a level where everyone has at least a vague interest in the picks. I am sure we are all aware of people who we know of, who would obit locally and who are very ill but without the celebrity angle this will become a list of "I know more sick people than you" There is always the Deathrace for former Mayors of Devizes

Perhaps the "Derby" bit in DDP gives a clue.

I was a bit surprised at the number of seats that's being contested in this election. So I copied some numbers from Wikipedia and did the arithmatic. Ignoring senates, upper houses and such fluff: |ISO| population | MPs | proportion | UK | 64,100,0001 | 6502 | 98,615 | NL | 16,912,6403 | 1504 | 112,751 For comparison: | DE | 80,716,0005 | 6316 | 127,918 | IS | 325,6717 | 638 | 5169 | IN |1,210,193,4229 | 55210 | 2,192,379 It turns out the proportion of MPs to total population is pretty close to the one in the Netherlands. 12013 estimate 2House of Commons 32015 estimate 4Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal 52014 estimate 6Bundestag since the German federal election of 2013. The number of seats in the Bundestag is not fixed 72014 estimate 8Althing 92011 census 10Lok Sabha

I was watching old Airplane/Starship videos and interviews last night on You Tube. I feel the above news is therefore my fault. He's 74 by the way, not 71 that the above article states.

Me too! ...and female, working on a divorce, mother to four awesome children. In good lighting I can pass for about 34. I lurked on this site for about a decade, signed up in 2013 and only started posting recently. In good lighting? You must look ravishing in the dark then. And in welders goggles you could pass for Brigitte Bardot. Who?

Wasn't wasted on me, in fact just last week I watched all 3 series and the Christmas Special on Youtube. One of my favourite shows ever in my otherwise awful childhood. I was considering a DDP team but after counting the actors and even production team I couldn't reach 20. Tragedy of this show is the young man who played Matt the stable lad, Sean Flanagan, died in 1981, only 3 years after the show finished. The quality of actors in this so called children's show is amazing, though I do guess after about three series of "spirit" jokes, you do begin to run out. They don't make them like this any more, sadly.
