In fairness, I think if we had a straw poll on the forum for folk living for a while yet, Ed Asner would have been near top of the list. Sometimes people just die. There's a motto for life!

As mentioned in the Ed Asner thread.......... Arsehole.

Ed Asner is an hit for Annami, Etushispushingupdaisies and WEP but not for the DL, where he was selected for the second and last time in 2019.

Soon be time for the arsehole "Why wasn't he on the list this year" brigade to start.

Worth noting that the only other title credit of Up was Christopher Plummer, who also died this year.

The younger among us will remember this role he played. In Up he was that grumpy old geezer who didn't want to move to a senior citizen facility so he uprooted his house. Great movie.

Torsten Wiesel (1981) now succeeds Fischer as the oldest living Medicine Prize winner. He was 97 in June. James Watson (of Crick and Watson fame) is second on that particular list. The other prizes are as follows: John B. Goodenough (99) - Oldest living Chemist (2019) Yang Zhenning (98) - Oldest living Physicist (1957) Henry Kissinger (98) - Oldest living Peace Winner (1973) Robert Solow (97) - Oldest living Economist (1987) Alice Munro (90) - Oldest Living Literature Winner (2013) Thanks, Scavenger Hunt III.

With Gerd Müller 2 weeks ago and Ed Asner today that brings me to 9.

Rest in Peace. Amazing actor and an amazing person. With Asner dead, only three living survivors from the 2014 DL: Dick Van Dyke, Tony Bennett and Wilko Johnson. Could become the first time a person who was put on the 1st place (Wilko) outlives the other 49. However, Dick is indestructible.

Wimbledon Men's Singles Champions of 1948, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953 all of whom are different people are all still alive. In contrast, all 22 players from the 1953 FA Cup Final are dead. I suppose that says a lot about the health impacts of both sports.

tbf to Biblio, my actually breaking news on a genuine A lister dying is a shock to me too. Shame though, Asner was always good value, even in the last decade in US TV shows.

I shall claim kudos. There's a mention in this book that the author learned of the death of among others drummer Hugh Malcom when researching his book (can't give any dates, other than the book was published in 2016): https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=GeSoCwAAQBAJ&pg=PR8&lpg=PR8&dq=when+did+rocksteady+drummer+hugh+malcolm+die&source=bl&ots=__fxL-3EgM&sig=ACfU3U3mgPl2Qbxs6Gsu5wwN96SHGrXh8w&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjt1rOrx9byAhVVi1wKHVXwDu44FBDoAXoECBgQAw#v=onepage&q=when did rocksteady drummer hugh malcolm die&f=false Probably Mr Bilby would be content for contact about his splendid tome.

Lee Scratch Perry reportedly dead: https://nationwideradiojm.com/reggae-great-lee-scratch-perry-dies/ Surely he's a DDP Pick. Edit: Apparently not! He definitely has been in the past!

I'm sure I'm not missing something but all those Nobel/Smart teams didn't pick Edmond H Fischer for this year - yes, the oldest (formerly) living Laureate. Picked as long ago as 2011 and on and off thereafter: http://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2011/celebs_F.html#fisce Another for the List of the Missed, @msc.

Re Sean Lock, 15 Stories High is now available on BBC iPlayer. As I previously said , it’s well worth a viewing. (Obviously, if that’s your sort of thing. I’m aware there are people with no sense of humour )

Alfie Atkins is the English name for the character. It's about a boy who lives with his dad in a suburb. She wrote and illustrated 24 books between 1972 and 2012. According to the Swedish wiki page for the series, the books have been translated to 35 different languages. Per Åhlin directed and animated a cartoon series based on these books in the late 70s that has also been translated to English and multiple other languages. The musical score was composed by Czech-Swedish bass player/composer Georg Riedel. Both are still alive, Åhlin is 90 and Riedel is 87.

Ed Asner dies, leaving Betty White as the sole survivor from the Mary Tyler Moore Show. (Not counting special guests like Helen Hunt who was on in 1977) How did Ed Asner not make it onto the list? There should be a section for all the celebrity deaths that were missed each year.
