Dementia afflicted footballers

This is meant to be funny from Pop Bitch but to me I find it a bit concerning being he gets a lot of head knocks and possibly sub concussions,

Three's the magic number
Harry Maguire is known for his huge head, but he can't store all that much in there.

At a recent personal appearance, Harry asked organisers not to give him any more than three short sentences to say, as that's the most he can remember at any one time. Anything more than that requires a teleprompter.

Maybe he's just a bit dim?

We may have seen the youngest player to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's to date. Martin Ogg aged 54.

There are younger ones but who haven’t been named publicly.

Cliff Jones was at Spurs training ground going by pics on Instagram today and looks quite well. His dementia must be progressing relatively slowly.

I swore I read somewhere that some of them may have been bigger name PLers?

Steve Smith, former Huddersfield captain and manager, is on @Octopus of Odstock list on Page 1. His family have mentioned he's now in the late stages of dementia, having originally announced he was ill in 2013. Sounds like his physical health collapsed during lockdown.

Steve Smith, DDP pick, reportedly dead:

Awaiting the usual.

Reason I said Steve Smith was a DDP pick is because of this post from @Octopus of Odstock, but the entry has not been updated seemingly.

One more to point out:

Steve Smith, picked by myself for my sporting theme team, is the former Huddersfield Town player now with dementia, not the drummer from Journey.

Lol at DDP entry being listed as the Journey drummer!

I see it. I don't know how I missed that not only during the initial sweep, but also the review! Just don't tell him.

Steve Smith has been updated to the footballer rather than the drummer. Point me in the direction of a QO if you see one!

Might be someone who needs a BBC Sporty round up.

Understand he's a current DDP pick and straight to QO.

Hard to tell with the dementia footballers. Two years ago, I filled up empty slots with the dementia folks, but Jimmy Calderwood is still alive. Gordon McQueen died last year. Tony Claypole already died in 2022, but didn't obit... These are tough calls...
