I assume this was posted elsewhere hours ago but it is undoubtedly the first big death of 2021 (and first British one as far as I can tell),  so it should probably have been mentioned on this thread . Must be big because there's a BBC obit ..https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-55508606

Hearing that Gerry Marsden of Gerry & The Pacemakers fame died on 26 Dec 2020.

Picked in the DDP in 2020, unfortunately that means he’s in no mans land...

There is this:

No date of death though others speculating Boxing Day.

A substitute will be needed if indeed he died last year.

Picked up quick so I am allowed my first sub. Of course if it's 2021, my first hit sadly.

I saw a Facebook post that said he died today. Think we need to wait until we know an official date of death to know if he needs to be subbed or not.

Frankly I'd be amazed they could keep this news quiet for over a week.

Like Gerry I'm holding my breath...

Note: tweet now deleted and replaced.

"after talking to the family ... none of which has an online footprint apparently, and all of which agreed to say nothing, and despite Gerry's fame no one in the media knew a thing despite them tracking him into hospital ... I am sorry to announce that ......"

I'm sure the discussion with the family was: "Hiya, it''s Pete Price' 'Hey Pete, wassup?'  'Hey is Gerry dead" 'yeah' 'Mind if I Tweet about it' 'nah go ahead, even though none of us have in a week'.

That doesn't qualify as a confirmation, Thatcher.  I'm with YoungWillz on this one.  Need something more.

I think he will get a Times and/or Telegraph obituary so we will get a date at some point.
