Steve 599 Posted January 4, 2023 James Whale should definitely been retained, Roberta Flack should have been added and a better punt for a A-lister Hollywood actor would have been Clint Eastwood and/or Val Kilmer.

The Daredevil 1,189 Posted January 11, 2023 Well, it has already missed some golden opportunities (Vialli, Constantine) and James Whale's and Frank Field's omissions cannot be helping at this stage.

Constantine although a miss isn't that great a miss as he was only known to be in poor health and in his 80s rather than being ancient or known to be terminally ill.

Well… still a better pick that some octogenarian on the list (Dick Cheney or Parkinson for example)

Who do we think replaced likely inclusions Barbara Walters and Pope Benedict at the last minute? Pete Murray and Andy Taylor? I also think Marianne Faithfull stood in for Pelé's last minute dropout.

oldhollywood 87 Posted January 14, 2023 Eva Marie Saint is another glaring omission. She’ll be 99 this year
The Daredevil 1,189 Posted January 15, 2023 Sidney Cooke is another glaring omission; exactly The DL Committee’s sort of pick (like Brady and Sutcliffe). How has Cooke managed to evade The DeathList all his life? He is definitely famous enough, The Guardian called him “Britain’s most notorious paedophile.”
The Daredevil 1,189 Posted January 20, 2023 Well, it hasn't been a great start for the 2023 DL, it's currently feeling like a list of missed opportunities. Fay Weldon, Gianluca Vialli, King Constantine II, Gina Lollobrigida, David Crosby; not even one of them on the list.
The Daredevil 1,189 Posted January 26, 2023 Behind the 2022 DL, the 2020 DL, the 2018 DL, the 2017 DL and now the 2016 DL. Even if we get a hit tomorrow, it has been a slow start for the 2023 DL, one of the worst in recent years.
Captain Hemlock 742 Posted January 27, 2023 Interestingly, Crosby had been on the list the past couple of years but was dropped this time.
drol 11,945 Posted January 28, 2023 A month without hit and no dead certs among all 50. Will be an extremely lame year.

Lafaucheuse 4,046 Posted January 28, 2023 The latest first hit is 20th of march 2004 : queen Juliana then 7th of march 2007 : Ernest Gallo 5th of march 2003 : Hardy Amies 27th of february 2015 : Léonard Nimoy 23rd of february 2002 : Chuck Jones 12th of february 2014 : sid caesar 4th of february 2005 : Max Schmeling will 2023 break the record of the latest 1st hit of the XXIth century ? i don’t think so, there is still a long way to go, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t have a february hit
The Daredevil 1,189 Posted February 2, 2023 Has now fallen behind the 2019 DL’s opening. If a hit does come this year, a game I sometimes do is I check the list first, so I don’t know who has died, only that there has been a hit. Then I write up the 50 candidates in order from least likely to most likely, put on some suspenseful music and do a Google Search of all candidates from least to most likely until I find the one who died. Usually, I make it to the 10 most likely before the dead candidate is revealed.

But then, you have to 1) remember every candidate in the list 2) open the deathlist site and not the forum first everytime you’re coming here 3) not see the first couple of picks of the list, something impossible When I open the list with my laptop fe, I can see the top 5 till the bottom of my screen

I hope you never answer honestly in a job interview when they ask what you do in your spare time.
