Hmm, it appears a Eurovision game may not have as much uptake. I’d be bang up for it but I’d also be happy with the 60s.

60s.

I'm OK on Eurovision from about late 60s to mid 80s but wouldn't know the majority of songs thereafter and doubt the quality would be worth the effort of research.

60's

I'd sooner have a kos on Viennese waltzes of the 1860's than ESC.

60s for me too, finishes off  20th century before doing things like ESC, xmas songs etc.

60s, then the number twos.

Keep Christmas songs for later in the year.  May I suggest not doing Xmas no 1 hits as a lot of them aren't actually Christmas songs.  We could start with the number ones that are genuinely seasonal, and nominate others that didn't top the charts.

I have zero interest in Eurovision, but you could run it alongside the next game for them as likes it.

I volunteered to sort out the Xmas game. I was going to launch it on 1st December and just do one giant round of Christmas songs from the 50s right up to now. Though of course if the consensus is we want a Xmas No.1 game (either instead of or as well as this) that can be arranged.

I don't mind 60's though I feel half of it will consist of The Beatles. No2's i'm more excited about even though i'm a big Eurovision fan.

17 Beatles number ones of the 60s (out of 187* total)

1963 - 3

1964 - 3

1965 - 3

1966 - 2

1967 - 2

1968 - 2

1969 - 2

*don't quote me on that.

If we just do one big round of Eurovision with a few dozen winners or whatever, I don't see the issue. It'd be over quick enough, even with fewer participants (if you're so against it, then help us kill the shit ones that @Book will upvote out of nostalgia :D).

Also, that would give me time to restart my marathon of listening to every charting single. I've been stuck in 1965 for 2 years now.

Rare that I agree with these two in this game, but on this I'm with them.

FYI, if we do Eurovision winners I'm voting +4 for Hard Rock Hallelujah every time.

That’s all my minus points sorted for all bar the first round then.

I love Eurovision, but agree that sticking with the decades series makes most sense, and I'm intrigued to learn more of the music of the 1960s.

I am looking forward to the no.2s though, as there are plenty of gems denied the top spot.

A lot of decent #2's were denied #1 by a big steaming pile of #2's that did make #1. Though there were also quite a lot of #2's that were also clearly #2's and deserved it.

Ah, that feels much better now.

The 1960s.

Only Eurovision winner I've ever been interested in was Celine Dion.

Ok, there is a slight trend from my query ;) so I would follow that and prepare a KoS of UK No.1-hits of the 60's.

The ESC-winner-KoS (with almost 70 winning songs) can be postponed until later or next year so that we don't have two larger games running in parallel. That wouldn't be a big problem, but we have all the time in the world, so there's no need to rush.

Thanks for your opinions! And now keep on killing and keep on saving :D

I'm happy this will carry on after the 90s game! Nobody fancies the 00s then? :P

First half would be fine, after that it all goes to bollocks chart-wise. I blame the X Factor.

00s is certainly the last decade in which I'd have a decent knowledge. 10s there's probably 3-4 #1 songs I would recognise.

I don’t care what we do so long as the 2009 rightful champion ‘I Gotta Feeling’ by Black Eyed Peas wins.

  • 14 weeks #1 in US.
  • 2 weeks #1 in UK.
  • #1 in 20 countries.
  • #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 decade-end chart.
  • #8 on the all-time chart.
  • 3rd most successful song of the decade in Australia.
  • Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
  • Nominated for Song of the Year at the 2010 World Music Awards.
  • The first song in digital history to sell over seven million digital copies in the United States.
  • The most downloaded song on the iTunes Store of all time.
  • The highest-selling digital (non-charity) single in the US ever.

Don’t. This is exactly how Youth In Asia does his reasoning.
