DROP

1.      Alan Greenspan (old and very boring)

2.      Robert Wagner

3.      Joanne Woodward (after 5 years of stasis, worth the risk)

4.      James Whale (tbh he could die on January 1st and I'd still prefer others had the spot now)

8.      Frankie Valli

12.  Charles III

13.  Geoff Boycott (gut feeling about this one)

14.  Jean Marsh (old, famous and frail)

15.  Michael York (been ill for ages, and you could put him next to Liza)

16.  Michael Heseltine (maybe not this year but I don't think Tarzan will be around that much longer)

17.  Michael Caine (increasingly frail, very A list)

18.  Duchess of Kent

19.  Rupert Murdoch

20.  William Shatner (recently survived cancer, 94 next year, time for a debut)

That is not a reason for Drop, perhaps it will be boring for you, unless you have additional information that he is still in good health, things would change, but at the moment it is not known.

Regarding the new additions, I agree, although I would also consider Steve McMichael, Sidney Cooke, Mahathir Mohamad, Tippi Hedren, Empress Michiko, Tomiichi Murayama and György Kurtág.

Greenspan being dropped is a bad move imo.The guy is nearly 99 and not been in the public eye for ages.Would be more logical to drop Dick Van Dyke or Pete Murray which I wouldn't recommend either.

There are so many good names you can bring in as newbies for 2025.

Dropping Woodward and Marcos seems like a real bad decision. Even Mel Brooks and Eastwood look like safer drops

Thing is, there needs to be twenty drops so some will be risky ones. They risked Leslie Philips a year or so before he died and of the names below the must keeps he and Woodward are the two I'd most risk seeing 2026. In a normal DL year this wouldn't be an issue, but we've got the bedblockers and the genuinely ill at loggerheads due to this being such a quiet year.

In reality we both know the Cmme are keeping Greenspan till he snuffs it.

None. I think the only past DL pick to die off the list this year was 2021 selection Shannen Doherty.

May I ask why Liza Minnelli seems to be a popular choice this year? Am I missing something? I understand she looked frail at the 2022 (I think) Oscar's but I am not aware of any major updates since then.

she looks absolutely awful for years, shaking a lot, has canceled several engagements and overall I suspect there is an underlying condition that we're not aware of (parkinson ?)

All true and good points  but she does have an autobiography scheduled to be released for her 80th birthday in March 2026- so perhaps she herself feels confident she will be around for that?

You can see her talking in October here. Frail, but IMO, she looks and sounds better there than she did at the Oscars almost three years ago. I would be fairly surprised if she died next year.

Yeah nobody is sad that he was a Deathlist miss, him being on was a complete fluke to begin with.

looks awful to me, short of breath, can't stop shaking, doesn't articulate, I'm sure there is something off with her. I’d be amazed if she makes it to 80 honestly. The autobiography could have already been written or be finished by someone else + she may feel confident about making it to 2026, but drop dead all of a sudden, that doesn’t mean a lot…

Eh. I disagree. Her overall decline has been pretty slow for someone whose DL thread from 2012 starts with "appears weak and frail in wheelchair". She strikes me as a grade-A coffin tease.

At the Oscars three years ago, she couldn't even say "ten best nominees" without losing her train of thought. By comparison, she's fairly coherent here and her voice still isn't especially thin. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with her beyond the fact that she's old and beat up her body with alcohol and drugs for decades. Which, yeah, means I don't think she'll live another decade+, but given that she's still lucid and plans to release a book (and read it on tape) over a year from now, I think that probably rules out the idea she's suffering from some major unrelated illness.

To be honest, I included Minnelli there because I thought she had a Elizabeth Taylor-esque health history. Turns out she doesn't, and she's still a year younger than Taylor was when she died. Minnelli's sister had a few similar illnesses as Liz T earlier though, I might've mixed the two up.

I had her on my 2023 list. She looked awful at that year's Oscars so I can't blame people who have her on their list. I was just wondering if I missed a major health update with her! I agree she's probably not living another 5 years

Richard Wilson is one not to overlook for the DL 2025. Astounding to think filming for "One Foot in the Grave" started in the 1980s, and that he is still alive. He has also suffered a stroke, heart attack, bad fall etc. over the years. Has also been very quiet of late.

Edit: Have just swapped Minnelli with Wilson on my 2025 shadowlist.

Gonna throw a name in there as well.

Dustin Hoffman. Quietly retired from acting this year. Missed all press releases and interviews regarding the movie he starred in recently. Looked and sounded like shit in that movie.

Well this year has been a disaster huh?

You know the drill, nominate your favorite Pokemon from Nebraska that the committee will promptly ignore.

I think Rex Williams would be a good boomerang pick, was picked back in 1990, and he’s getting up there in age. Last time we had a big boomerang pick it was successful with George Cole, I’m just saying

Peter Falk must surely go on the list
