Sly Ronnie 973 Posted December 2, 2024 Well at least it guarantees one DeathList hit next year, if they pick him. 1

Vinegar Tits 614 Posted December 2, 2024 Deffo going on my list. Good of him to tell us at this time of the year and not the second week of January. He'll always be Ted Douglas from "the Department" to me.
Arsewipe 205 Posted December 3, 2024 Not famous enough for the main list? Bill Gate's dad was....
Phantom 2,573 Posted December 3, 2024 He'd definitely get a UK obit. The character of Harold Bishop was a fan favourite.

Toast 16,339 Posted December 3, 2024 Even I have heard of Harold Bishop, and I've never watched a single episode of Neighbours.
drunkasaskunk 218 Posted December 3, 2024 He was also in Prisoner: Cell Block H ( I think he directed or produced some of them too)

The Old Crem 3,787 Posted December 4, 2024 And he wouldn’t be the first Neighbours star to make an appearance as Anne Haddy was on the 1998 list (Presumably based on the fact her ill health was well known and her Characters on screen death had aired in Australia in 1997 but wasn’t aired in the UK until April 1998. https://tvtonight.com.au/2024/12/ian-smith-to-film-last-chapter-to-raise-awareness.html He is also filming a documentary about Assisted Dying but doesn’t intend to undergo one himself (It’s legal in Victoria in Australia.). There is a hope he will live for years with so maybe not a 100% certainty for death in 2025 but still a likely hit.
The Old Crem 3,787 Posted December 30, 2024 https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a63302959/neighbours-ian-smith-health-update-cancer-treatment/ Says his tumour has shrunk and he has a year maybe more. So not a banker for 2025.

DCI Frank Burnside 3,950 Posted December 30, 2024 Smith too much of a gamble to leave off on that basis when you take his age into account IMO

Deathrace 1,210 Posted Wednesday at 22:23 A random point but it occured to me that he might be the first person to appear on the Deathlist who has the same name as a completely different person who has previously appeared on the Deathlist. Can anyone confirm this?

Yama 61 Posted Thursday at 00:59 The next likely time that will happen will be when Bill Gates gets old/sick enough to be on here. Or George W Bush.

Yes, although as they are father/son relationships there's not the degree of separation as for the two Ian Smiths. Maybe Iain Duncan-Smith could also appear on here one day in the dim and distant future?
