Presumably John had one of those "Kill Bill" punches that only kills you 40 years after you strike the person.

An elderly Japanese lady and John Lennon's wife die on the same day.

I think there might be a Venn diagram in there somewhere.

The former Mrs Paul McCartney, former sex worker and general attention sponge Heather Mills just broke the world speed record for a paralympic skiier. Talking the next winter olympics and more of the same regarding speed. Fuck knows, if the press will pay attention, she'll give it a go.

Schumacher didn't touch Heather's speeds.

Just sayin', like.

Ringo will be inducted as an individual into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-3037127/Rock-hall-opening-doors-Ringo-Starr.html

So, does that mean his disco phase (which he can barely recall recording since he spent the period in an alcholic stupour) has now been reappriased: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ujoA-yWDSY

Grammy winning recording engineer Dennis Ferrante is dead:

http://www.prosoundnetwork.com/article/%E2%80%9Cimagine%E2%80%9D-engineer-dennis-ferrante-dies/19506

His biggest claim to fame is probably producing/"engineering" John Lennon's "Imagine" album. Though he also worked with lots of other artists.

Oh the irony. The FB page of Billy Shears (the guy who replaced the dead McCartney in 1966 - keep up FFS!) hasn't been updated since 2012. I've just messaged him to ask if he's been replaced by an imposter!

I'll keep you posted

Andy White, the session drummer who played on early Beatles' tracks, has died at 85. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34785987

Edit: Dang, simultaneous with VT!

Edit 2: Looks like Jimmie Nicol is still on the go according to Wiki, but he's much younger (76). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmie_Nicol

Can't think off the top of my head any other musicians who appeared with The Beatles from their first album up to the split who are still alive.

^^ Cheers DDT! I'll never keep up!

I'd completely forgotten about Franny Schwartz for example, not necessarily in the context of appearing on a recording, but for breaking up McCartney and Asher. This thread will run for a while by the looks of it!

From his wiki entry

He was affectionately christened "the fifth Beatle" as he is best known for replacing Ringo Starr on drums on the Beatles' first single, "Love Me Do"

I've lost count of how many people have been referred to as "the fifth Beatle"

I shortly had the idea to field a "Fifth Beatle" theme team. And while there were good candidates among them, there weren't enough left. Still, there is this:

Word on the street is that George Martin has died. Sean Lennon tweets: https://twitter.com/seanonolennon/status/707432443675025408

I'm heartbroken. An amazing gentleman whose contribution should never be forgotten. RIP.

Daily Mail has it: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3483404/George-Martin-producer-Beatles-dies-aged-90.html

While the Beatles were innovative and technically excellent , I still thought they were shit.

Must've been his fault.
