gcreptile 10,979 Posted August 3, 2020 I interpret this news in the way that Benedict wants to recover once more, and to write some kind of testament/final thoughts. The current infection is not going to kill him. But he's got less than a year left. A few months, maybe.

According to this, he is extremely frail and his voice is barely audible. Really doesnt look good for him, sorry Catholics...

DCI Frank Burnside 3,887 Posted August 3, 2020 Shingles aren't exactly a walk in the park for the healthiest of people never mind a 91 year old who's already frail. Wouldn't be shocked if he's gone before the year is out

Wouldn't be shocked if he's gone before the year is out Yeah I've had it. Left me bedridden for 2 months, in fact it left me so behind on my college work that they kicked me out. Worst part was that if I was to go back and do it again then I'd have to pay like 5k so I went to work at a warehouse instead... took nightschool to become an automation expert and here I am today... But yeah shingles is nasty and I was 18 when I had it. I wouldnt imagine a 93 year old surviving it...

roaming_comrade 471 Posted August 3, 2020 If he only lasts till the 4th of September he'll be the oldest pope in history (although the recordholder died in office)

That would be cool though, although we'll probably have to wait 9-10 years at least until this record can be broken if Benedict doesnt recover.

Well it finished off my great uncle, though to be fair he did allready have stage 4 prostate cancer and had suffered a stroke a few months earlier, so that may have had something to do with his death.
