maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted May 21, 2007 Mr Holden, who has two sons aged 70 and 60, puts his longevity down to porridge for breakfast and "remembering to keep breathing". So he fathered the second kid when he was forty odd, statistically speaking a stress inducer, yer man's bucking the trend there. Looks remarkably chipper with that cake though. Passable head of hair on him for such an oldster.
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,689 Posted May 28, 2007 I saw these old biddies on TV tonight - the lead singer didn't even have the decency to learn Pete the paedo's lyrics before launching into a frankly rubbish version of My G-g-generation. Honestly, old people - they demand our respect for just remaining alive, then perform as shoddily as this!!
Dr Hackenslash 25 Posted May 28, 2007 Saw it too, must say I loved 100-year-old Buster - still works three days a week as a plumber and apparently is having trouble getting a passport as he has no birth certificate

Canadian Paul 97 Posted June 12, 2007 Australia's oldest man has died, aged 109, and so has Haiti's oldest claimant: Guillaume Sanon. And if you really want a stretch, the United States oldest licensed pilot has died at age 105.
DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted June 13, 2007 Post deleted - I failed to read CP's mention ^ of the world's oldest pilot. So instead let me add this lovely epitaph I found on the website of the United Flying Octogenarians: "In each pilot's life there comes the time when they soar beyond the restraints of this planet Earth. They head West on a final flight to where the air is always smooth and the sun is always shining."

Canadian Paul 97 Posted July 25, 2007 Oldest verified Canadian, Mary Ann Scoles, dies. For those keeping track (perhaps for CPDP purposes) there are no more validated living supercentenarians in Canada. Two supercentenarians born in Canada are now living in the United States, one is awaiting validation and one cannot really be validated (I believe she was born in China). Godot 149 Posted August 13, 2007 Yone Minagawa, at 114, the oldest person at the time of her death, dies. But at the time of her death she was dead. That's how we would know the time. So she couldn't have been the oldest person then, only up to the time of her death.

This one Thanks I wonder what's the Japanese secret for long life. Only letting the GRG to review their records every September. The correspondents are only allow to check the Japanese records once per year due to their privacy laws, so I'm told that a lot of the Japanese cases are likely already deceased - and some already are, they just usually wait until September to do the big update.
