Interesting Ways To Die...

Recommended Posts

A Dutch cyclist died in Germany when he was hit by a car. That's not an unusual way to die, happens elsewhere too. But this car was.... unoccupied.

The woman driving the car forgot to pull the handbrake and since the car was parked on an incline, it started rolling. A 100 meters down the road the unlucky Bastard on two wheels met with the combination of inertia and gravity.....

Yeah, saw that - a professional wedding planner seen off by an unexpected turn of events, doubly funny, then

Hanging by your pants 290 feet up a chimney

It's local news here but no proof yet he is actually dead but seems this guy climbed the chimney in middle of night with intention of throwing himself off top but when he jumped his trousers got caught and he's been dangling upside down ever since. He was moaning and groaning for first few hours but has since gone quiet and he's got no shirt on so may have frozen to death.

Dixon's Chimney used to be the 8th largest chimney in the world (some useless associated information).

Has it been confirmed to be a suicide attempt, or was he just trying to unfurl a banner from the top of the chimney?

I remember seeing that chimney when I did a bit of computer work at a Carlisle factory many years ago. Not sure where exactly the factory was, and I suspect that the company behind it is no more.

If it was an extinction rebellion protest (climbing up chimney, protest against pollution? Does the chimney still work?) he ironically has helped climate change, by removing himself and his carbon footprint from the world.

Not the first time they've targeted a chimney.  Seems like a strange suicide attempt.

The rescue attempt.

They've got him down

But no mention of his condition.

EDIT: He's dead.

While we're here,  an illustration of the use of a pointless phrase.  Twice.

Lee Salmon, from Great North Air Ambulance, said: "There are case studies which suggest that at this moment in time the gentleman could still be alive. So at this moment in time it's still a rescue."

Hmm, let's try this.

Unfortunately the News & Star also have a 90 foot cherry picker recovering him from a 290 metre chimney - someone's just blown their chance to go big with the nationals!

Shamed that I'm so busy today I'm the last on board with a Cumbrian story.

Nice weather up there, mind, whilst I was dodging showers after de-icing the car down south

That’s brilliant.  DEATH OF YHE YEAR nominee.  We should name a DP after such heroism each year.  I just may do that.

A four-month-old baby died after a monkey dropped a stone on him. The incident happened at his home in Sohjani village of Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Saturday.  The monkey was on the terrace while the baby boy was on the ground floor with his parents. The monkey picked up a stone lying on the terrace that slipped from its grip and fell on the boy leaving him with serious injuries.  The baby was declared brain dead at hospital.

A 2-year-old boy was crushed to death when an ice sculpture collapsed at a Luxembourg Christmas market, according to new reports.

The toddler was at the Place Guillaume II market with his family around 8 p.m. Sunday when the sculpture, installed next to the ice skating rink, suddenly fell apart — with one of the broken shards landing on top of him.

Not sure where to drop this.

Police have confirmed the identity of the man whose body was found in a deceased woman’s freezer, but, there are still a lot of questions about how and when he died.

He’s been identified as 69-year-old Paul Mathers. He was the husband of Jeanne Sourone Mathers who lived in the retirement apartment complex.  Investigators believe she knew he was in the freezer the entire time, but they still don’t know how long he was there.
Police were called to the Remington Park Apartments after a maintenance worker said he hadn’t seen the woman in two weeks.

She was found on her bed, and officers believe she may have died of natural causes.  An investigator found her husband’s body inside a three- to four-foot-wide freezer while he was looking for clues to help him determine how long she had been deceased.
