It'd be a bit like if Tim Henman died and the ITF tribute included a reminder of him being two points away from reaching the Wimbledon final in 2001.

He was still playing snooker and hitting century breaks last December, not exactly a sign of an imminent death. Unless you want Jack Lisowski on the list next year? 1

But the last news of him was that he was in good health, so I've steered clear since.
Sly Ronnie 870 Posted July 20 Considering he was a miss for the Deathlist and only picked by a few teams in the DDP, it was another tactical masterclass from the old schemer. RIP.
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,683 Posted July 20 I wonder who, if anyone, will be the first pro snooker player to make a century. Presumably no one has yet. Is Rex Williams currently the closest at 91?

This guy https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Thompson_(snooker_player) would be 94/95 if still alive, but he only barely makes the cut of professional. Vinegar Tits 605 Posted September 27 Sad news. He had a lovely soft, calm and reassuring voice. Treated quite badly by the Beeb imho when they got rid of him. RIP. (And yes, I did once work with him )
MLawrenson 0 Posted September 28 I remember watching the World Billiards final last year. The commentators said Clive Everton was due to attend but was too ill to do so. That and the last snooker documentary I saw had Clive on and he clearly had Parkinson's. So not a surprise. If you want to pay tribute, buy his book "Black Farce And Cue Ball Wizards". It'll tell you what snooker was really like during both its glory and dismal years.
