Octopus of Odstock 2,195 Posted August 25, 2006 Well it doesn't come up on search. Either way, profound & sincere apologies for insulting you. Your link comes up as page not found, btw, but I found it later on. They've killed off people before, like Kevin McCarthy & Jeffrey Combs, so until's it on a credible news source, I'm not liable to believe it. Not that I give a sh*t about her anyway. Not that I give a sh*t about her anyway. But that still means Wikipedia is wrong, iain, if imdb is right. How will you cope with this betrayal of trust if this is true? imdb killed off Jeffrey Combs?? one of the few actors who can turn a serious horror story into a comedy imdb is often wrong too as that partially relies on subscriber edits
Octopus of Odstock 2,195 Posted August 25, 2006 imdb killed off Jeffrey Combs?? one of the few actors who can turn a serious horror story into a comedy IMDB authoratively said he was in one of the planes that hit the twin towers in 2001. Also, the guy who does Genarians is scathing about IMDB & with good reason. There's people on there who died years ago, but there's nothing on the pages. And it's too US Centric. For film/tv obits, I rely on entertainment insiders. Three reasons: 1) They include a pic, wherever possible, so you're never wondering "sounds familiar but i need to see what they looked like" 2) They get some obits before the likes of Wiki, imdb 3) They don't discriminate - ie it's not the big names only, there's other ones too, but cuts out the imdb crap of listing anyone whose died that has the smallest link with a film (ie make up to assistant gripper etc.) At the moment, Rayne is not on the EInsiders listings as having died. Octopus of Odstock 2,195 Posted August 26, 2006 Ann Richards, the movie actress, has died aged 88. She's been out of the public eye for too long for anyone to remember her, I guess, but anyone who was a surviving leading lady of the Hollywood Golden Age, deserves some sort of mention upon death. Octopus of Odstock 2,195 Posted August 27, 2006 Carol Kaye, former singer with the Kaye Sisters & who also appeared in Coronation St, has died, aged 71. I could've sworn somebody like Handreijka already mentioned her, but a search of DL reveals nothing. That death was revealed on Entertainment Insiders, which also announces the death of Ethel Stratton. Link. The Stratton Story is one of my all-time favourite films, so I'm sorry to hear she's died. That site also has nothing on Tiffany Rayne's "death", and it does cover that genre, so I think we can presume that the young pup is still alive.

Tempus Fugit 214 Posted August 27, 2006 Media great David Plowright* has died aged 84. Brother of Joan Plowright and responsible for some rather good TV programmes, like Brideshead Revisted. The elitist bastard would never get away with that today, not in Blair's Britain. * This post is courtesy of iain.

Bald rick 9 Posted August 29, 2006 Vladimir Tretchikoff The geezer who painted this: (picture snipped - it's on this thread too many times already) has died. It is believed to be the best-selling commercial print of all time. Yuk! I don't normally question where people put these but Tretchikoff is certainly famous enough to be in the near misses thread surely. I've never heard of him, or seen that picture before. In fact, whilst waiting for the picture to load, I read the caption 'best selling commercial print' and was expecting that picture of the girl itching her bottom whilst on a tennis court. Shame. I must be living a more sheltered life than I had previously thought!

But had no idea the name of the artist behind the painting.
DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted August 29, 2006 Sir Alfred Sherman, a Tory policy advisor and former communist. One of "Thatcher's earliest intellectual soulmates", has died. Tempus Fugit 214 Posted August 29, 2006 Veteran Porn Master Jon Dough, suicide Yet another porn suicide. Your average porn star seems as likely to top themselves as a farmer whose EU subsidies have been stopped, his cattle have all contracted TB and he's being taken to court by The Ramblers Society for blocking a footpath. halleluyahjohntudor 5 Posted August 29, 2006 Sir Alfred Sherman, a Tory policy advisor and former communist. One of "Thatcher's earliest intellectual soulmates", has died. Bit of an eccentric by all accounts. I would imagine Mrs T will make a public outing for his funeral. Thanks DDT. I edited a book of his memoirs. He was incredibly spikey, and I detested his views on virtually every subject of public interest. But the private man was... actually, just as bad as the public image. Even so, I'm glad that he's been remembered here. He was muddle-headed, but painfully sincere in all that he did and said.

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted August 30, 2006 Veteran Porn Master Jon Dough, suicide I'd heard of Jon Dough, and consider him somewhat famous, but perhaps that's showing a little too much specialist expertise. How awesome are the names of the various people mentioned in the article? Survived by his wife Monique DeMoan, mourned by ex best friend Randy Spears (who looks a lot like Alan Shearer. So I'm told). Classic.
