Yes, it is a British thing, since it is a Welsh thing.

That don't fekkin count.  Next you'll say some African thing that has letters we don't use.  Like that 'NG' thing.  I think they have a saying 'A wng and a prayer' or summat.
I presumed I was talking to intelligent people sticking to the English language, not traipsing the world like Mary Poppins.

You left an open goal when you used the word British.

While 'cwm' is not a genuine English word, it has made its way into at least one prestigious American ( https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cwm ), and one authoritative British dictionary ( https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/cwm ).

By the way, even if <w> is rarely considered a vowel letter in English, it is used as the second element in lots of English digraphs that stand for vowel sounds, like 'ew' /(j)uː/ in 'new', 'aw' /ɔː/ in 'law' and 'ow' /aʊ/ in 'how'. In all of these words, the pronunciation of the vowels would be different without the w.

"cwm" is playable in Scrabble (both US and UK dictionaries). It's a word.

If only there was an l in front of it, then it would be a viable username.

Saddo?  I don't know what it means, but it feels insulting. :(

Google is your friend; it's meant to feel insulting; "

"a person perceived as contemptible or pathetically inadequate."

Sadly, you are correct.

Here's what came up when I searched up the definition:

(Brit, slang) a socially inadequate or pathetic person.

Most folk change their one to something customed by now, but I never really thought about that. When it comes down to it, "saddo" and "demented Glaswegian" are one and the same...
