YoungWillz 21,044 Posted November 14, 2022 Just now, msc said: She's 85, it took down Ronnie Corbett in less than a year, she's very DLy - get her on the 2023 list, I say. Also, she's been falling about since 2016. So I'm guessing that although the announcement is recent, this has been undiagnosed for quite a while.

YoungWillz 21,044 Posted November 18, 2022 Dawdling around the Internet, I found an early picture of part of the Larry Parnes stable: Davy Jones: Appeared at the Cavern with the Beatles on occasion, either US or Canadian, lost in the mists of time and possibly dead. Peter Wynne: born Peter Hazelwood, turned down the Beatles for a tour of Scotland, stepped aside to give Eddie Cochran the taxi in which Cochran died, never really had the success he deserved. Born 1939; Died 2021. Duffy Power: born Ray Howard, appeared on the first cover version of a Beatles number, suffered from depression and drug use. Born 1941; Died 2014. Julian X: born Julian Scott, he released a couple of unsuccessful singles, left the stable and became a singer for hire. Reportedly Died 2016 according to this. Billy Fury: Born Ronald Wycherley. One of the best known and successful acts, several hits between 1959 and 1966 went on to have a successful acting career also. Born 1940, Died 1983. Larry Parnes - The Impresario, Born 1929; Died 1989. Dickie Pride: Born Richard Kneller, only hit the charts once despite being generally acknowledged as the most talented performer of the stable. At one point was on heroin, had a lobotomy, and tragically died aged 27 from an overdose of sleeping pills. Born 1941; Died 1969. Joe Brown: Lincolnshire born but marketed as a Cockney, has maintained a fairly successful career as a singer, performer, actor and author for decades. Several hits with his band The Bruvvers. Born 1941; ALIVE. Gene Vincent: Born Vincent Craddock, an American singer who had hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s, he left for Europe after a tax dispute. Was injured in the accident that killed Eddie Cochran. Famously temperamental and alcoholic. Born 1935; Died 1971. Vince Eager: Born Roy Taylor, released several singles and split with Parnes over his commercialisation of Eddie Cochran's death. A minor career as a singer and actor followed. Born 1940; ALIVE. Lance Fortune: Born Christopher Morris with a couple of top 30 hits to his name. Born 1940; ALIVE. Georgie Fame: Born Clive Powell. Three #1s in the 1960s with many other chart hits. Wife committed suicide in 1993. Born 1943; ALIVE. Danny Rivers: Born David Lee Baker, Liverpudlian who troubled the charts only once, had a resurgent career in his late 60s. Born 1942; Died 2016.

Went on his Discogs, according to which his real name was Marius Gerhardus Ferdinand Wilsterman (seems like he was Dutch, supported by two other sources 1 and 2). Then I went to MyHeritage, and this came out. It could be him, as the guy in the image was born in Suriname (a former Dutch colony) and the time period also pretty much checks out.

Not every singer/band here as that'd be a list of half a million living folk. If yer favourites are missing, its a personal slight, of course. Ahem. As the last list missed Sparks, I can't promise there isn't some obvious missing name... - 1923: Ned Rorem, Faye Adams (believed dead) 1923 now extinct. Death Impends 7,972 Posted November 24, 2022 On 19/06/2020 at 19:43, Death Impends said: So, as mentioned occasionally before, Ulitzer's UK charts project sparked me to explore the 50s and beyond of the US Billboard charts and now I've listened to nearly everything that marked the Billboard charts between 1955 and 1959. Maybe a dozen songs were not on YouTube. While I won't be doing anything nearly as comprehensive as Ulitzer's project I thought I'd compile a list of living performers from the era. Not every last living name is here; ie there are some groups with multiple living members that I only list the frontman for. If they charted as part of a band, the band is included in parentheses regardless of whether or not the artist would become better known under a different band name (the living Four Seasons and Simon & Garfunkel are prime examples). *snip* 1939 - Dion DiMucci (Dion and the Belmonts), Phil Spector (The Teddy Bears), Neil Sedaka, Rudolph Isley (The Isley Brothers), Billy "Crash" Craddock, Tommy Facenda, Dianne Lennon (The Lennon Sisters), Frank Maffei (Danny & the Juniors), Beverly Ross (Ronald & Ruby), Warren Davis (The Monotones), Gary Troxel (The Fleetwoods) *snip* Tommy Facenda dead at 83 - https://www.bwfosterfuneralhome.com/obituary/eugene-thomas-facenda?lud=7DCAA008052D3BBE2377E2A4EF7CEF41 Had a solo hit in the US with "High School U.S.A.", and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee as a member of Gene Vincent's Blue Caps.

YoungWillz 21,044 Posted December 7, 2022 Just a wee note from my researches. Billy Idol seems to have had a pretty bad MRSA infection, lasting some months in the early part of this year. Checking his website, however, he seems to be better with plans for touring well into next year. Off my dance card for next year, on yours, perhaps?
