It'll be depression brought on by playing depressed Steve. It's not uncommon for soap actors to develop illness or vices in parallell to there charachters. Peter Adamson being a classic example.

Not much clarity on this at the moment, but the toyshop which Peter Baldwin (Derek Wilton in Coronation Street) took over appears to indicate that he has either died or will die in 2016! https://twitter.com/Pollockstoyshop/status/657558109435641856

Watch this space to see if there is more news - he is a DDP pick.

Digital Spy forums seem to suggest local news has announced it. Time will tell.

First hit for my The Cobbles to a Coffin theme team. And a unique too. I'm sure he was a lovely man but by god his character has to be the most irritating in history,

Disagree. Watching it now I'd have to say I'd happily see the end of Mary - really really irritating!!

ccording to his mother, Elizabeth Jackson, "One Life to Live" alum, Nathaniel Marston (ex-Michael McBain), was in a serious car accident Saturday October 31. On her Facebook page Jackson posted: "Please pray for my son Nathaniel Marston. He was in a car accident last night and is in the intensive care on life support.” His back and neck were broken in several places and in addition he has other internal injuries. Jackson asks of fans, “Please pray that he will recover and walk again. Nathaniel is now on a breathing machine to keep him alive and he may face life with tremendous paralysis if he survives this tragedy."

What a horrible mess. Better off dead.

Stephen Hancock, Ernie Bishop in Coronation Street has passed away at 89. http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2015/nov/03/stephen-hancock

Think he's a DDP entry. Edit: Apparently not.

Could've sworn he was on Cobbles to a Coffin but alas not. Missed him and Anne Kirkbride - well this gets embarrassing...

Leon Sinden, brother of Donald who appeared as George Carradine in High Road, has died at the age of 88, cancer. http://www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/obituaries/13951544.Leon_Sinden/

Highly attached to the Pitlochry Festival Theatre. His other TV work included appearances in Dr Finlay's Casebook and Upstairs Downstairs, Rough Justice and No Hiding Place.

Edit: Anyone with an hour to spare, here's his Upstairs Downstairs appearance as Det.Insp. Bowles: https://youtu.be/sOUk5tn1ykI

Sadly, I couldn't find any High Road appearances before retiring to bed.

Dammit he was my replacement name 3 days from now. I can't win.

Granted as bad as I feel I don't feel as bad as Marston.

It's rolling and it's way down near the bottom of the page.

Quote:

Coronation Street creator Tony Warren was on home turf and on fine form when he received an award at the Salford International Media Festival last night.

Warren, now 79, created the soap 55 years ago. After clips of its early years were shown, he joked that he had been "haunted by those characters" for 50 years.

After being presented with the conference's inaugural achievement award trophy, he said the character that haunts him the most is Ena Sharples.

I'm left wondering just what Ena would have made of this. She'd say, 'Oh yes, yes, very nice, very nice. One more ornament to dust. Not much dusting done in your house anyway.'

It puts me in mind of one thing and one thing only. I bet it's not occurred to you but it's occurred to me. This could be the last monument you see before the actual gravestone.

Ena would surely tell him not to be so daft.

I reckon it'd be something along the lines of "Keep talking that and I'll ensure it is."
