Yep the thread is still going.Maybe time to make Duckie our new mascot.

And, I'm sure we had a suggestion to that effect a few years back - possibly even from me

Just had a conversation with my partner about who we thought will die over Christmas 2019.
We came up with Jimmy Greaves, Jimmy Carter, Sterling Moss, and- outside chance this one and it was my suggestion- Shamima Begum.
Will see how those turn out on New Year's Day.

As mentioned in the Brinsworth House thread, a couple of up to date photos of him:

Clearly DIcky O is still such a sexual dynamo that a few minutes with a young woman still means their husband has to take them half way around the world to avoid his clutches.

Askwith looks incredibly good in that photo. More like 49 than 69.

That poster clearly doesn’t know about the legend know as Richard O’Sullivan.
Although the Queen is slowly catching up, so we might need to post in here a little more often...

So so - Brinsworth does not have massively higher fees.

It's under-written by a fairly robust insurance scheme for performing artists as I understand it.

So, once you're in it's likely more expensive than the other options but also much less of a worry to those lucky enough to land a place.

I think, sometimes, we all forget just how prolific an actor he was in the 70s. He was, pretty much, king of ITV situation comedy.

He was also a child actor, this guy had a big career and, more likely than not, he was prudent enough to put money aside.

Yeah, a fair point - bit like Michael Schumacher in that he was laid low very quickly and vanished - meaning he's lingered for ages and people are growing up not even registering that he's still alive.

Im not saying he wasn't an awesome star....but did he not fall on hard times?

Does anyone think he has millions stashed away in bank accounts?

For all intents, his career ended after (the pretty awful) Me and My Girl finished in 1988. He was only 44.

When he had his stroke in 2003 and moved into Brinsworth, he was only 59.

I think he just went out of fashion. Many performers do.

He got old, got ill and he is where he is.

I think most paid into insurance schemes in order to get mortgages and finance such was, and is, the precarious nature of the acting profession.

Must have been pretty soul destroying to be placed in Brinsworth in your 50s. Most of the other residents would have been in his parents generation.

Just looked at a couple of episodes of that on Youtube. He looked in his 50s then. TBT looked ten years younger than him despite being 4 years older in real life, although that is obviously no indicator of longevity considering recent events......

I always thought RO'S looked older than his age, and never found him at all attractive.  His appeal was a mystery to me.

Just stumbled across Dicky O on This Is Your Life - December 1974:

Is still being alive 45-and-a-half years after being featured on TIYL a record?

Edit: Shirley Bassey is still going and her first appearance was two years earlier...

They had some ridiculously young people on sometimes.  I remember how my mum used to scoff.

'"This Is Your Life"?  S/he's barely begun his/her life.'
