Just had a conversation with my partner about who we thought will die over Christmas 2019.
We came up with Jimmy Greaves, Jimmy Carter, Sterling Moss, and- outside chance this one and it was my suggestion- Shamima Begum. 
Will see how those turn out on New Year's Day.

It's under-written by a fairly robust insurance scheme for performing artists as I understand it. 

 

So, once you're in it's likely more expensive than the other options but also much less of a worry to those lucky enough to land a place.

I think, sometimes, we all forget just how prolific an actor he was in the 70s. He was, pretty much, king of ITV situation comedy.

He was also a child actor, this guy had a big career and, more likely than not, he was prudent enough to put money aside.

Yeah, a fair point - bit like Michael Schumacher in that he was laid low very quickly and vanished - meaning he's lingered for ages and people are growing up not even registering that he's still alive.

When he had his stroke in 2003 and moved into Brinsworth, he was only 59.

I think he just went out of fashion. Many performers do.

He got old, got ill and he is where he is.

I think most paid into insurance schemes in order to get mortgages and finance such was, and is, the precarious nature of the acting profession.

Must have been pretty soul destroying to be placed in Brinsworth in your 50s. Most of the other residents would have been in his parents generation.

Just looked at a couple of episodes of that on Youtube. He looked in his 50s then. TBT looked ten years younger than him despite being 4 years older in real life, although that is obviously no indicator of longevity considering recent events......

They had some ridiculously young people on sometimes.  I remember how my mum used to scoff.
