Twelvetrees 10 Posted July 18, 2007 Sad news from the world of cricket. Somerset opener Peter Denning dies aged 57: http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/england/co...ory/302466.html Sorry if posted elsewhere, but he deserves to make it onto this thread. Speaking as a Somerset follower, quite right too. Poor old 'Dasher' - the solid county pro whom no-one ever noticed when Viv and Botham were winning things for us. Octopus of Odstock 2,198 Posted July 20, 2007 High drama today for Ali Meshkini. He started the day as dead as can be, then was upgraded to being in a coma, and is now much better as the day ends. That's twice now that Meshkini has been reported as being dead in 2007. Either he's the new Lazarus or Iain has moved to Iran to be a news reporter.
Octopus of Odstock 2,198 Posted July 20, 2007 Former Luton Town legend, David Preece, has died, at just 44 years of age, after a short illness. I used to live near Luton & went down to watch them from time to time when Reading had an away game, and once or twice I met Preece, who was down-to-earth & had plenty of time for everybody - a very nice man indeed. He also played in the Premiership for Derby & was a member of the famous Littlewoods Cup win for Luton in 1988. A great loss, at a relatively early age. He's on my DDP - the second person on my list to have been reported as dead when still alive. Anyway Jesus De Polanco has also died. He's on my DDP, but will he get a UK obit? Octopus of Odstock 2,198 Posted July 21, 2007 Anyway Jesus De Polanco has also died. He's on my DDP, but will he get a UK obit? Yes By the way, nothing for Peter Tuddenham, bar a tribute in the Littlehampton Gazette, which, I'm afraid does not count for points scoring in the DDP. May I make a short exclaimation........thanks.........YYYEEEESSSS GET IN YA BASTARD!!! I'm movin', movin' up da board! PS, Tuddenham will get his obit, he was in Blake's Seven for f**ks sake! Octopus of Odstock 2,198 Posted July 22, 2007 PS, Tuddenham will get his obit, he was in Blake's Seven for f**ks sake! So? A lot of UK actors don't get obits, even though it's arguable they should. I mean Nancy Mansfield, despite appearing in one of the most popular 80's shows & having a long stage career has had no obit, to name just one. Tuddenham, who only had one noteworthy role, and a bit part role at that, is on the periphery of fame & I'm not all surprised that the only publication that has covered his death is the Littlehampton Gazette in all honesty. I would say Notapotato's best hope is a "Lives in Brief" in The Times, otherwise Tudders is joining the ranks of John Smyth & Scarabelotti.

He was the voice of Zen in series 1-3, Orac 2-4 and Slave in the last series, you heard his voice more than you heard Blake's! Funny though, he got mentioned in dispatches in Doctor Who websites, despite saying about 5 words in one episode in 1975! So I think the cult factor will deliver an obit.... Yes, but you never saw him, hence my definition of a bit part & I think that will be his obit downfall. I also think Blake's 7 is far too cultish for the broadsheet media. But we shall see, young TMIB, we shall see.

DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted July 23, 2007 Hans Georg Schmid, set out this morning on a record attempt in a small plane. He was attempting to fly from Basel, Switzerland to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a distance of nearly 5000 miles. Sadly with 4997 miles still to go his, fuel laden plane crashed in to a block of flats. Suffice to say that Mr Scmid won't be sampling the night life in Wisconsin this evening.
