I was going to make that quip and missed out by half an hour, cooking. Timing! Anyone using "summat" on here has been reading Maryport comments for a long time, basically, imo.
charon 4,943 Posted February 16, 2018 Half an hour is 30 minutes. Here to help.
msc 18,477 Posted February 16, 2018 ^ It was 30 mins when I started typing but people keep trying to have conversations with me here. Very distracting.
Boudicca 702 Posted February 16, 2018 All this attention Roey is getting reminds me of the days of Banshees Scream. Now there was an interesting individual...

Lard Bazaar 3,799 Posted February 17, 2018 Really, who gives a fuck? Post if you want to, don’t if you don’t. Read posts if you want to, don’t if you don’t. It really is that simple, kids.
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted February 18, 2018 On a serious note: I gave up Soda / soft drinks. Last time I gave em up I lost 19 pounds in 2 months without changing another thing in my life (beer drinking a-plenty included). That shit is poison, hard to get away from it though, unlike fags it tastes good. (purposeful use of 'fags' to see how quickly it goes astray). SC
charon 4,943 Posted February 18, 2018 Shouldn't have used 'soda' if for comparison terms..... Marks you as a yank.

We call it POP in Detroit. My Yankness isn't a secret. That said I do attempt at all times to fit in (i.e. 'colour' or 'neighbour'), etc. Help a brother out here, what am I supposed to say?
Toast 16,141 Posted February 19, 2018 'Pop' is fine. My Brummie grandparents always called fizzy drinks pop.

Spade_Cooley 9,530 Posted February 20, 2018 "Pop" specifically refers to non-brand soft drinks where I grew up: think Panda Pops, shit like that.

Toast 16,141 Posted February 20, 2018 Thinking about it, I suspect most people refer to brands these days. I'll have a Sprite/Pepsi/Tango orange etc.

In my grandparents' day, pop was usually Corona and delivered by the Corona man. It came in glass bottles with a deposit which you got back when you returned the bottle. I liked the limeade best.
