weasel 2 Posted March 23, 2007 What actors / actresses from the original "Star Wars" have passed away besides Alec Guinness? I could look this up on www.imdb.com but that wouldn't be any fun. Marc Hamill was looking old last time I saw him on TV.
Pterygotus 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin) bit it, sometime in the nineties I think. Cancer. Michael Sheard, who played Admiral Ozzel, died in 2005. Sad, but those are the only two I can think of, and I had to look on Wiki to get Sheard's name. SW actors seem to have a good track record as far as not dying goes. Octopus of Odstock 2,218 Posted March 23, 2007 Uh.. it's considerably more than two. I'm afraid Star Wars actors & actresses have a bad rate of dying as much as any other film of that era: All (Credited actors only) Star Wars Alec Guinness Don Henderson Phil Brown Peter Cushing Shelagh Fraser Alex McCrindle Eddie Byrne Jack Purvis William Hootkins Jeremy Sinden Empire Strikes Back Alec Guinness John Hollis Jack Purvis Michael Sheard Des Webb Bruce Boa Richard Marquand (Director) Return of the Jedi Richard Marquand (Director) Sebastian Shaw Alec Guinness Claire Davenport Jack Purvis There are probably numerous others I've missed, but those are some of the main ones. To die for 3 Posted March 24, 2007 Holy crap! Jack Purrvis died thrice? Alec Guinness too, although dying in Stars Wars didn't stop him appearing in the next two episodes so maybe thats fair
Canadian Paul 97 Posted March 24, 2007 This is very helpful, as it lists who's alive and who's dead without even having to click on the person - Star Wars Actors Database Everyone from Obi-Wan to the voice of a random Stormtrooper, it would seem.

Hmm.. very good. Reading that made me forget that the guy who played Dengar the Bounty Hunter had also gone. Didn't know the Mos Eisley bartender in A New Hope was dead though. I suppose when you look at the sheer amount of names there, and the numbers that are yellow (dead) compared to red (alive), then they haven't done badly, but three of the movies are very recent, and a large amount of the older films had younger actors, I suppose. One to watch then I would say is:- Jason Wingreen, voice of Boba Fett, 88 later this year & frequent film & TV actor. He should get some mention state-wise when he goes, which means the Guardian will pick it up & hey presto, UK Obit!

No recent news and IMDB says his last work was in 1994, though I know that he also did the Boba Fett voice for the special edition in 1997. And apparently, he's still signing autographs. Makes mistakes though. Gilda Cohen was not a Transylvanian in Rocky Horror, she wasn't in the film at all. I've seen this mistake made before. I imgine she's being confused with Sadie Corre, who was an Ewok and a Transie. Sadie is now in her late 80s and might just scrape an obit so she might be one to consider. Indeedy so, as I've just checked him for my (now reduced & revised) list, there was also a recent photo of him. I can't seem to find it at present, but he looked healthy enough, about 10 years younger than he is. With your new avatar, CP, whilst the choice is good, maybe you could lighten it up a little? It looks a bit dark so you can't really make it out? Try here or here

It's on my to-do list. I forgot to install Photoshop on my new computer. Hopefully I'll get to it later today and I can play around with it. For now I'll try out Captain Oates - the man lives on Tatooine, I'm sure it's not totally out of the realm of possibility that he could be glowing.
Guest Guest Posted March 30, 2007 It's a shame that Harrison Ford went on to live on to make films such as What Lies Beneath which has him with his old man's chest out. Put it away

Gents, care to hold your hands up, or are you going to retain aliases within a website in which everyone already has an adopted persona? It's kinda like double-bagging.
