How many major actors who served in WW2 are actually alive now after the death of Kirk Douglas? For Germany it would be easy with Hardy Krüger Sr. (who is also international quiet famous) but the only famous living american actor I could think of who served in WW2 is Dick van Dyke, but he did only stateside service.

After about 10 seconds of thinking Mel Brooks, Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte came also into my mind.

Fellow deathlister Carl Reiner tweeted this tribute.

He tweets a hell of a lot for a 97 year old

There does exist a helpful reference in the Wiki page of notable surviving World War II veterans.

Wow I just found out that he died, I saw him on Movies123 and I can't believe it, if my grandmother finds out she is going to have a heart attack

Out of interest, is your granny Betty White? :D

This guy really had chosen the best possible moment to pass away. Legend.

Lana Wood finally puts in public what has been suspected for decades. Not sure people will see as anything but stuff from the past relating to two people now deceased.

They totally absolutely have to dig him up, or reconstitute his ashes or whatever, and put him on trial now.

Two siblings born in the 1910s both lived to see the 2020s!

Wait until you hear about these things called supercentenarians!

Haha I’m very familiar! Just doubt there’s many siblings both born in the 1910s and died in the 2020s, so I find it especially interesting that a household name like Kirk Douglas and his sister did. The odds of that must be astronomically small

Look up Irving Kahn + siblings

or Maggie Renfro + siblings

Interesting but still exceedingly rare and the average person wouldn’t know who they are. Kirk Douglas is/was Hollywood royalty!
