Her Melbourne Cup win was really impressive, even if the European contingent was severely limited that year (I can't recall whether due to covid, or Racing Victoria's onerous and silly veterinary checks). He trains in Lambourn, doesn't have a battalion of runners but is a Welsh National winning trainer as the article notes (just as well, as he would have been a possible Pointless answer for even the most diehard racing anorak). A bit of detective work shows that the guy second from the right (standing next to Sam Waley-Cohen) is Ron Barry who won the race in 1973 on The Dikler and the guy next to him in the purple tie is Frank Berry who won in 1972 on Glencaraig Lady. diego 1,980 Posted March 15 Walter Blum was born in Brooklyn, New York and died at the age of 89. Despite being blind in his right eye since the age of two, when he fell from a toy horse, in 1953 he embarked on a career as a jockey, riding his first winner on July 29 at Saratoga Race Course. For most of his 22-year career, Blum has raced primarily at East Coast tracks, from New England to Florida, and is one of only four jockeys to win six races on a single card at Monmouth Park. Most known for his association with the Marco Botti and Amy Murphy stables in Britain and he appeared to have a promising future. diego 1,980 Posted April 11 Kōta Fujioka was born in Ritto City, Kurita District, Prefecture from Shiga (currently Ritto City) and died at the age of 35. He became the 42nd person in JRA history to achieve his first ride and his first victory. In 2009, he won his first grand prix and GI race, and in 2015 he achieved his 300th victory overall. He reached 800 total victories as of March 30, 2024. He passed away on April 10, 2024 due to a fall from his horse.
