Damn him to hell.
One of my big names 2015, in most pools.  Then he retired and seemed to chill out.  That said, his name still made my initial 300 or so this year.

Having lived through Nabeel Qureshi in 2017, I wasn't about to go through that again.  Sadly, I sit and watch a short-lister go unnoticed.
Author and pastor Glenn C. Stewart died January 12 after a battle with brain cancer.  His chances to obit were virtually nil for DDP, but he would have been rock solid in other DPs.  Oh well.

Michael Hands, a former priest who served prison time for sexually abusing a 14-year-old Long Island boy in August 2000, was found dead of an apparent suicide in his jail cell upstate Tuesday while awaiting sentencing on new sex-abuse charges, authorities said.

As his victims said in open court: He was all hands!

Now that piece of chalk just has to be chucked in and out of a hospital 50 times for ultimate accuracy to its inspiration

Rebbe Mordechai Hager was a giant in the Hasidic community, as evidenced by the tens of thousands who gathered for his funeral in Kaser on Friday. Hager died Friday morning at Mount Sinai Hospital at age 95. He'd been the Viznitz Hasidim grand rabbi in the United States for decades.

Bishop Joseph Cistone of Saginaw, Michigan has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer.   It’s the ‘treatable’ kind, don’tcha know.

Devon church minister Andrew Gardiner has died:

Pretty unremarkable, I guess, but I almost put him on some of my times because of recent relation to the BBC, as mentioned in this article:

From an unknown a week ago to one of the names heating up the DL pages, (Ret.) Bishop David Foley is a couple photos from March 27, as he was on his way to a retirement home for priests.
No way of knowing before or after, but the order of the tweeted pix would make the first photo a 'before'.  He's aware and acknowledging people around him.
In the second photo, presumably less than an hour later, Bishop Foley (bald head on the far left, miter musta fell off) can't seem to hold his head up.  Is he silently praying while everyone else in the photo isn't?  Catholics do everything together....kneel, stand, etc.  So I suggest he's having a go at a quick nap.  Maybe after 90 years or whatever talk of God bores him.  Maybe he is physically unable to do the simple task of staying alert, awake, and on task with the arduous chore of keeping his head aloft.  You decide.

Sir Creep, Bishops do not wear their mitres at many points during the Mass including the elevation (pictured above) also it is a semi-common, but personal, practice to lower ones head during the elevation as a sign of respect.

Interesting that his Baptist church used this terminology:

“It is with deep sadness that we have to inform you that our minister, Andrew Gardiner, was promoted to glory yesterday"

"Promoted to glory" is the term Salvationists invented to refer to the death of one of their own and I've always thought it was rather a nice turn of phrase, so it's nice to see it catching on in other denominations.

Speaking of which, not sure if former Salvation Army Generals get proper obits, but a brief look at the list on Wiki has a few elderly possible candidates.

A popular name a couple months ago, Luis Palau has God on his side, and tests indicate he is on the mend.

"Earlier this year, Vision News reported that evangelist Luis Palau had been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.

After two months of therapy for the cancer the doctors were amazed at the results from the recent CT scan and blood work.  Doctors reported that all tumours had shrunk by one-third, and blood tests looked good.  There were no new tumours and all fluid around the lungs was resolved.  The results were so uncommon that Mr Palau said the family is giving glory to God -- but not trusting God 100%, Luis now begins another two months of chemotherapy.

The priest at two Tacoma Catholic churches collapsed while celebrating Mass on Tuesday morning from a brain bleed and is not expected to survive.

The Rev. Michael Wagner, 48, was celebrating the morning Mass at the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary when he fell to the ground with a ruptured cerebral aneurysm and he was taken to a Tacoma hospital, where he remains Wednesday night.
