Quite a bad day for islamic scholars:

Hichem Djait, Tunisian islamic scholar and award winning historian has died aged 85. Notable works include The Great Fitna (1989) and The Life of Muhammad (2001-2012).

Mufti Faizul Waheed, Indian islamic scholar who translated the Quran to Gojri language also died today at 56 from multiple organ failure. He had COVID before and was treated for pneumonia. Apparently a respected figure.

Ziona, christian polygamy cult leader and more importantly the head of the world's biggest family (39 wives, 94 children, 33 grandchildren and one great grandchild) dead at 76.

Only one great grandchild is a pretty poor show from that lot.

Tomé Ferreira da Silva, 60-year old bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of São José do Rio Preto (around 700,000 members) has been removed from his position by Pope Francis after a scandal.

The scandal? da Silva masturbated on camera during what was apparently a video call with another man and a video of this was leaked as revenge porn. Also failed to investigate priests accused of sexual abuse towards children.

Shah Ahmad Shafi's (1916-2020) successor as the amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Junaid Babunagari (1953-2021) not as immortal as his predecessor:

https://www.thedailystar.net/news/bangladesh/news/hefajat-amir-junaid-babunagari-dies-ctg-hospital-2155986

Suffered a stroke a couple of hours ago, died on the way to the hospital. He was 67.

Apparently had been suffering from heart disease, kidney diseases and diabetes. Who's next from the group, Nurul Islam Jihadi (1948-2021) or Muhibbullah Babunagari? Both look horrible.
