David Smith, the paralympian rower and cyclist, occasionally pops up here and there because of his spinal cancer.

He just had another surgery in his neck: https://www.strathspey-herald.co.uk/news/another-war-wound-for-aviemores-heroic-cancer-battler-smith-334158/

It doesn't have to be a new tumor growth, but could also be pain management because of already done surgeries. It's unclear.

Melissa Hoskins, 32, 2015 world champion in the team pursuit, has died after being hit by a car.

Her husband, Rohan Dennis, also a professional cyclist and multiple world champion, has been arrested and charged with causing her death.

Damn, that's a sad way to go. Clearly this was a targeted attack of some kind (because what are the odds you just happen to run over your own wife).

On past form, he’ll blame it on the manufacturers, the mechanics, the soigneurs, the sponsors, his management etc, then try the mental health angle at his trial before climbing off the bike and quitting.

Or he might be completely innocent.

So far he has been charged with Dangerous Driving and other driving offences rather than Murder.
